View sky box in another room?

I have a Sky+HD box in my main living area, we use this to record all our programs. We also have multiroom in the bedroom, its just the basic box for watching additional channels. Is there any way we can watch recorded programs from our box downstairs upstairs? We tried previously using the magic eye but we couldn't get it to work.

  • You can't watch the stuff recorded on your main sky+HD box via any other Sky box (period). What you can do is essentially extend the signal output of you main Sky+HD box to another TV in your house. Imagine having a long wire from the back of your main Sky+HD box to a second TV. Both TVs show the same thing at the same time.

There are numerous methods of doing this and they can be installed by the average DIYer with a bit of research and the right kit. The "magic eye" is a bit of kit used on older TVs that not only carries the tv signal down a long wire, but also the Infrared remote control signal so that you can use the Sky remote from the additional TV signal receiving room.

There are better alternatives now which essentially do the same thing but enable you to get an HD signal on the additional TV.

There are wired and wireless options avaialable.

we used to have a wireless video sender for our TiVo box, and we used to get interference from various other equipment, it used to drive me nuts.

Maybe something wired would be ideal? unless wireless has improved somewhat.

Sorry, but you can watch anything from your main Sky + HD box via the TV-link. Live, recorded or on demand, or am I missing something?

If that's the case, I stand corrected.

I thought (like "wrongmark")only broadcast material could be viewed in other rooms?

No it's anything on the box, of course your main TV would be showing the same !material.

Sky in their wisdom no longer have an RF2 output on the latest WiFi enabled boxes. You now have to buy anIO adapter in addition to the Magic eye.
