    Morning All

HH - Hope the floods stayed away.
    Welcome tryingtocutback.
TTFTM - Good luck for your new job tomorrow, it's the new start you need.
Molly - Hope 2014 is good to you, was the lady's name Beemuzed? Hope she's ok.
Enjoy your day glitterkitty and happy birthday for tomorrow.
Hugs to those with children going back to uni - they will be home with their dirty washing soon enough!!

It's dry here at the moment, it rained quite hard yesterday afternoon again so the washing came in. I suppose it is wishful thinking getting it dry in January but just a blow to air it would be good.

Managed to tidy up the fallen leaves in the garden yesterday, went into the cellar and it has about 2 inches of water in! We were warned that it might flood. Hopefully it will drain soon. I think I need to get some pallets on the floor to lift everything.

Had baked pots for tea - not had one for ages and really enjoyed it. DD making sticky pork ribs for tea today from her new cookbook, looking forward to that.

Going to Glasgow today for a mooch about, usually manage about 3 shops and get fed up but I think DD wants to look for a few things.

Take care and stay dry. XX

I'm not paddling yet, but we've had no more rain yet, heavy frost here at present.
Molly, I really really hope you have a better year this year, I hope you manage to move your parents nearer and that the situation with your son improves.
I'm back to work tomorrow & I must say I'm dreading it, especially after such a horrible appraisal, amazing isn't it I had 4 years of brilliant appraisals, 4 years where they weren't done & now I'm crap at my job for no other reason than I 'Don't fit the head's vision'. Heyho, head down & battle on.
No real plans for today, a walk to see how close the floodwaters are & lots of knitting.
Meatloaf & mash with cabbage & onion gravy for lunch today.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Molly Hugs, glad that you son is home.

    Hilly, PP Hugs.

LW Glad that you are enjoying your furry visitor.

Off to church this morning and then I am spending the rest of the day de-Christmassing the house.
Had some terrible news yesterday, one my pupils has been diagnosed with lymphatic cancer, he is 12. Makes all my worries seem really minor.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Hi everyone, long time no see.

We've been away since 19th Dec at our other house and had so many visitors it was such a busy time, but lovely. The only blot was that mum was admitted to hospital yet again. She is now out but I don't know how long we'll be able to keep her at home.

Anyhow, we're home now and I need to take the decs down today, although there aren't many because we didn't have a tree and I took most of the things up to Yorkshire.

I also want to clean thoroughly today while DH is here to help - he got away very lightly this holiday, I know I do all the housework when he's at work because I don't work outside the home but I need a bit of a break too and didn't have much of one because of all the visitors.

I also want to go through the freezer and cupboards to see how long we can live without buying more than the basics. I have a bit of cream to use up but that is more or less the only left over I have from Christmas so I am quite pleased about that.

Molly, I too hope you have a better year in 2014. Hester, stay safe.
  • Good morning all.
Well frosty here this morning but dry and bright. Its my last day off as well as school is back in tomorrow, and I am dreading it, so much so I had nightmares last night. Maybe I should start looking for another job.
Sitting having a cuppa with dh at the no trying to plan what we want to do on our last day of the holidays. Have a chicken to roast later but apart from that nothing.
OK well stay safe and dry peeps
    Hugs to all xx
    Bright Blessings xx
  • Good morning all,

Had an ok nights sleep, but seem to be lacking any motivation to do anything even though the flat needs a good tidy round.

Probably won't be venturing out anywhere today, I don't need anything and don't want to be tempted!

Hester - hope that the warning is still just that and does not turn into anything more serious and that you are keeping safe

Molly - I hope 2014 is a happier year for you and your family

Honey/Lyn - glad you made it though yesterday alright (apart from your sister) and that you could enjoy some happy memories

glitterkitty - you will have an amazing time at the Studio Tour, I went last year, also for a birthday present, and it was magical (for want of a better word!)

Lunch today will probably just be some bits and pieces out of the fridge, and dinner will use up some of the gammon joint we cooked yesterday. Also need to make some bread and maybe a cake to fill lunchboxes this week.

Good luck to those returning to work or have children going back to uni tomorrow, and well wishes to those feeling sad or poorly.

    Emma

Good Morning chums ,dry here at the moment and reasonably bright.Eldest Dd is due for her Sunday morning strangled eggs and coffee,so life is resuming back to normality once more after the break.Tomorrow I have the boys as they don't start back to school until Tuesday,so i will think up an end of term treat for them I think, hopefully that won't costabomb :):):) Depending on the weather I may take them out for a drive somewhere, but if the weather is bad then its got to be an indoor treat.Get's thinking cap on :):):)
Reading through the posts it seems as though we are all tightening our belts again.I too will be cutting a few new holes in my belt as I am hoping to get my kitchen redecorated at some point this year, its been about 6 years since it was done as is looking a bit 'tired' now. Also the holiday is booked I have paid for the ferry fares ,but will also be sorting out the house rental for the fortnight with a little help from youngest DD.We are off to freshwater on the Isle of Wight in August. We go to the Island almost every year as its where my late OH was born and we know it so well. The boys love the fact its got nice beaches and there is such a lot for them to do.The dogs and hamsters come along as well :):) so its a real houseful when we go .
Well time to get the coffee pot on the go as DD will be here shortly
<<hugs >> to those who need them and good luck tomorrow Julie67 we're all rooting for you
    Cheers chums

  • It's a lovely I sunny day here but rain is forecast for later.

HesterI hope the floods don't reach you, I originally come from your neck of the woods. DD1 and 2 live in Tilehurst and DD3 lives in Theale.

Yvieblue I am glad that you found a course to enrol on

Lamewolf the courses are all internet based and only a few hours a week so can be taken at your own speed, so if you don't feel up to it there is always time to catch up.

Yesterday was a housework day as I work full time, today is my lazy day. Just the ironing and dinner to cook then I aim to tidy my craft stuff. Usually I start to do this and then start a new project so nothing actually gets tidier.

I hope everyone keeps safe in the floods

    xx
  • Good morning everyone :)

Seems to be the last day of the holidays for quite a few people today. DH is another one who is absolutely dreading going back in to work tomorrow. I have told him we need to do something about this, he really can't go on like this until he retires or the place kills him :(

Not much planned for the day but do need to do a bit of shopping and still haven't done the meal plan for next week. Though I did check the freezer and there is quite a lot of stuff in there that needs using up, so shouldn't need to buy much. Spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread for dinner so a nice easy one.

Want to do some ebay listing later to get in on the last day of free listings. Have quite a few photos ready so that should not take too long. Want to sort wool out too and see what I can make, my charity shop/car boot stash gets bigger and bigger and I haven't made anything for ages.

Watched first episode of The Bridge II last night and it was brilliant. Couldn't stay awake for the second episode so will watch it on iplayer later.

Hello and welcome to tryingtocutback :hello:

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)
