Florenceem - could you let me know how you're making your HM mashed potato cake? I love potato scones and do bu them ys, but wouldn't mind having a go at making them, thanks :)

skintmum2012 - thanks for posting the beef cobbler recipe - might give that a go. I like a lot of the good food recipes :)

For ladies trying to lose a few pounds, I recommend the MyFitness Pal app - it's great and free! It helped me lose almost 6 stone in about 18 months and I can honestly say that I ate what I wanted and did't miss out having anything. It as really about working out the better meals and using more of them and less of the bad meals, and also about better portion control. Weight loss is on hold for pregnancy but will absolutely use again in a couple of months..... :)

I love that app, I only managed a stone in a year though. I've also paused my weight loss for pregnancy lol but I still add up what I've been having so I can see the naughty items :rotfl:
    GC July: £0/£120
  • So, added up my spends so far: £70 As*a, £47 Te*co, 2 top up shops which were really impulse buys of £10 each in Te*co and £3 in the local cake shop:o

So that makes £140 so far out of my original budget of £300, which I gave reduced by £100 due to unforeseen bill.

Didn't have breakfast today as I overslept (up with DD and her ear infection). Just had l/o sweet potatoes from last night with some Tesco chunky coleslaw (on offer at £1.15), followed by an alpro dark chocolate soya desert.

I an just going to look up a recipe for fish pie for tea, using cod which I got out of the freezer last night.

Dd2 may be coming home for the weekend from university, which will mean rearranging the meal plan a bit.

Hope you're all having a Good Friday!

    Hi All!
I'll stop lurking an join in again (it's been months!). I'm setting myself a revised weekly budget of £70 starting officially from next week (Thursday - Thursday) but will be reading back up and pulling back on this end before then.

Had my slow cooker leek and potato soup for lunch. It was yum!
Also had hm chicken and veg pie last night using leftover chicken. It was good but next time I would put a pastry lid on it instead of a cobbler topping. Both new recipes!

  • Morning all - bit of an app virgin. Can you download them onto a laptop or do you have to have a fancy phone? Mine's a brick!!!!

Reporting spend of £23.09 in Al*i, Home Bags and M n S (2 reduced items and burger buns). Now have lots of meals - not enough for rest of month yet but getting close. Sig updated. Only two weekend shops to do to last until 31st so looking quite good. Still got some cash in purse for milk and bread top ups .

Also got wild blueberry yogs in Al*i to try for a treat - love their 49p yogs.

Keep up the good work everyone.

It all depends on what your phones operating system is, and what model of phone it is. You need either a Windows, iOS or Android phone to benefit from Apps. You can download them to your computer first and then sync to your phone if you want them on the phone. If your phone is a brick then chances are that you might need to upgrade your phone as well.

  • Weekly shop came on Wednesday, a spend of £68.44. Got a lot of stuff and used some vouchers as I need to do well this month. Have made beef stew, Spanish chicken and need to get cracking on with the bolognese and shepherd's pie. Meat for next week should be little, if any. Still trying to incorporate some veggie dinner options, without much success :(
