Had pork steak, pasta with mushrooms and tomatoes tonight. Just after had taken photo remembered we had some watercress so piled some of that on as well.
Didn't go shopping today so will have to go tomorrow now. May get up early and get it done before it gets busy.

my boss helped out today by giving me two portions of chicken from the lunch menu that finished today, and a portion of spinach and pea risotto that was left over. So that was a free dinner!

    Meal plan looks like this:

    Saturday - Tuna fish risotto
Sunday 'cheapy roast dinner' (beefburgers in gravy with roast pots and veg)
Monday - potato, bacon and onion hotpot
Tuesday - chicken fillets with noodles and veg
    Wednesday - Sausage Casserole

Had a surprisingly tasty lunch at W'spooneys today - DH treat for our Wed.Ann. He had Haddock and chips 'special' and I had Chicken peri-peri with jacket spud and coleslaw with a glass of wine each for £13.55 ! Made up a bit for it being another carp day - freezing cold wind and trying to SNOW

I just can't understand all this going on about 4 pints of milk for £1 at all the main sms ?? We buy at F.Foods, Al*i or Li*l - 79p for 2 litres today which is cheaper anyway ? That was my spend for today :)

Going to do a 'roast' beef dinner tomorrow (still haven't got a new oven) - so it will be in the S/C, with some roasties in the combi micro and steamed veg. No yorkies though :(

Hope you all have a super Saturday

  • Another NSd here, just as well the way we have been spending lately.

Fish pie for tea tonight, tend to have it quite often as DH is a keen and very successful fisherman, so try to vary it as much as possible. Tonight was a base of smoked tuna, then a layer of shrimps, then grouper, parsley sauce and potato topping. Entr!e of crayfish (NZ lobster).

Off to DGD's school gala tomorrow. She is very excited, and as she goes to a small country school it should be fun!

Last day/night alone before bf's return tomorrow :-) I have a few 'must buy' bits to see us through until I start leave on Wednesday.

Local lidl is supposed to have half price chickens today so hoping to grab one of those (garlic and herb which won't impress bf who isn't a garlic fan but we won't tell him ;) ) also need Yorkshire puddings, mushrooms, milk, squash, wraps, couple of carrots and maybe a sneaky bit of chocolate.

Wednesday I think we may go Makro - earlier than planned but my parents want to join us and its a rare occassion where we're all off. Bf isn't impressed at my wanting a complete set of the lakleland stack and store freezer boxes and says I need to justify them...like adequate food storage isn't enough! So I need to have a think about that. Also need to jig the freezer around to fit any makro purchases in!

Also had a brainwave about the Easiyo sachets my parents ordered and are splitting with us, I think I might 'buy' each one from the cupboard as I use them at a set price (I'm thinking 2.50 which is just about what they work out at each) I'll put that money in to my bulk buy tin ready for the next order/bulk shop. Based on the classic second purse idea

A spend of £22.77 this morning in Li dl and my local premier corner shop.
Li dl I bought 4 whole chickens for just £7.96
7.5kg of the specialty potatoes for £3.12, these are huge and can do jacket potatoes.
66 bags of crisps for just £3.12 and snack sized salamis for 29p for 2 x 6 of them. That will be lunches with soup or a sandwich for next week.
I also bought 3x broccoli at 29p each, the sign said today only so I'm guessing that is store specific?

My local corner shop is a premier and they have velvet 9pkt rolls down to just £3, with my budget being tight to impossible this month I can't bulk buy but I bought 1 to get us through to pay day on the 21st.

I'm off to work out just how little I have left now to last until then :(
