I've spent the best part of tonight trying to decide how I would be best moving forward with our grocery shopping; I don't drive but from mid March I'll be on Mat Leave so will have more time. We have an Iceland and Lidl, oh and a Co-Op but it's really expensive in there. We also have a Fulton foods
Or I could do online deliveries from any of the big supermarkets. The main perks could be that i could get our fresh fruit and veg from the local market (runs twice weekly) and bigger shops from Iceland as they deliver over £25 then just use the bigger supermarkets for offers/as and when I'm nearby/calling in. However the obvious advantage of a bigger online shop is the opportunity to split offers with my parents/the bf's parents.
How do most people find it most efficient (in time and money)?
Another perk which I think will save us money in the long run is that now we have an american style fridge freezer and we are ordering a new cooker in the next week or so. We've been surviving with just a combi microwave, party grill and electric hob for ages but bf has relented meaning I can bake treats as well as making decent homemade pies, roasts and other 'Real' food :-)************************************

Grocery spend today of £35.79 for the week I didn't plan on spending that much but there was a fair few offers on and then if I spent £40 I got £5 off plus I managed to get my first voucher for a £40 spend and if I spend £40 once a week for the next 3 weeks I get £10 off a £40 shop plus 10p off each litre of fuel! All for money saving I suppose!!
Total spend so far £43.28/£200GC- June £0/£150

Will be eating mainly vegetarian this month while OH is away. Need to get my thinking cap on for variety ( don't eat cheese) Indian dishes high on the list of favourites.
Hi seemasfriend
Have you tried The cheap curry sauce? I also love an Indian or Chinese but other half doesn't eat any kind of curry so I batch cook my curry sauce and freeze it - I've had it with chips, rice, chicken etc etc what you like really! I'll tell you the recipe and it sounds disgusting - I turned my nose up at it straight away when I saw it but I made it and it's absolutely gorgeous!, better than most takeaways I've had-
2 tins chopped tomatoes
2 tins mushy peas
2 tins baked beans
2 tablespoons of medium curry powder
Throw it all in a blender til it's smooth then heat it up! It's amazing!
You can half the ingredients to make a smaller batch but this recipe makes for about 6 people easily!
I think it's a fab recipe cos it's as good as a takeaway but you only need store cupboard ingredients!GC- June £0/£150

It does indeed, but curiosity will make me try :rotfl:LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -
Will catch up on this evening's posts in a mo!
I had quite a few spends over the weekend.
Did most of my shopping in A1di on Friday (£15.16) with a small top up for the few things I couldn't get, from Mr M (£8.09). We were invited to friend's for dinner on Saturday and DH has said he would like to take a pack of 4 Peroni for his drink (could he have picked anything more expensive!) and so I looked up on MySupermarket for the place that was selling it cheapest and hence ended up in Mr M for the remaining few items. Bought quite a bit of fruit from A1di with the super 6 being 1/2 fruit.
Went to a lovely hog roast on Friday, my friend cooked us a dinner on Saturday (Nigella's gammon cooked in cola) & then yesterday I cooked a turkey crown and we had a lovely roast. I was pretty pleased with the turkey. I got it from A1di at Christmas and it was labelled as being for 3-4 people. DD2 had eaten at a party and so there was only me, DH & DD1. However we like our meat and by the time we've picked at it whilst we carve and then had a decent sized portion on our plate, I wasn't expecting any LOs! How wrong. A very decent pile of leftovers. Enough for a good sized curry for 4+! :j
Yesterday saw me spend £5.09 on a dodgy bottle of sherry! I love a sherry whilst I cook a roast (:)) but had run out and so foolishly went to the local farm shop and bought QC! Yuk! So, that cheated me out of £5.09! It is only suitable (IMO) for cooking!
Then today had to go to A1di again as had virtually run out of toilet roll (how did that happen) & bread! £5.43 spent on those 2 items and grated cheddar. Had forgotten I had told DDs they could have a friend each round after school for tea! My kids had had cooked dinner at school and so would normally get something light when they got home. Friends had only had packed lunches and so felt I had to provide them with a cooked meal! So, nipped to the farm shop again to purchase passata and make them all a pasta dish! So, that was an unplanned meal and use of 2 chicken breasts and 2 rashers of bacon! Oh well!
Sorry for the long post - I think I say that every time! :rotfl:2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

Dinner was Turkey bolognese using 250g Turkey mince, onions, garlic, the last jar of bolognese that needed using, tomato puree, mixed herbs and porridge oats, frozen mixed Peppers, sweetcorn and peas to bulk it out. Served with spaghetti and 100g grated cheese. There was enough for me, oh, our 2 year old and a portion for the freezerI'm making Turkey cottage pie tomorrow (today) using the rest of the turkey mince (I bought 500g).
