Right - today I WILL sort the bedroom! Problem I have is that I have 3 smallies, 1 of which sleeps in our room. He used to sleep through any amount of noise but obviously as he gets older he's a bit more easily disturbed so I now can't do anything in our room post 7pm. Nice in a way but it means I'm very limited. But today I have put a chilli in the slow cooker ready for tonight's dinner, and I'm determined to sort the bedrooms out today as they're a bombsite!
Unfortunately I have a new cold (been a whole 2 weeks since the last bout lol) so it's like wading through mud. Hoping as it's friday and yesterday was so busy (Thursday always is) that I can leave the kids to kind of get on with things today. I have 4 hours until I need to get their tea ready (quesadillas as we're having a Mexican night lol :-) ) so as soon as I've finished this post I'll feed littlest and crack on.

Have checked at local CS and they do take mags, so great they can have lots:j
Local playgroup say will take my poster paint. As I wont let DD paint in house:money:
Took big bag to CS today. Going to take some electrical thing to that CS that takes them. Going to give old youngest clothes to friend who has younger D.
Giving things away is giving me a little glow, sad I know.:)

Hmmm I though I posted in here yesterday but seems not...
I have cleared my window sill and cleaned the windows! Think I'm going to work my way away from my bed.
Right now though I'm trying to get my phone working again, does deleting photos count as decluttering? It's having a paddy because theres over 2000 photos on it and not much memory left :S oops!
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

Hi all,
Been lurking and reading over the last couple of days while having some time off work.
I made a great start to the de-cluttering last year when I was offered free loft insulation with my new energy contract which really made us be ruthless. We were only allowed ¼ of the loft space for storage as they want as much insulation up there as possible so it was either flung of packed and stacked properly:)
We have been here for 24 years with 3 kids so you can imagine.
Anyway, after that I did continue for a while but recently I have lost my way.
I was sitting reading this when my DH said the energy bill was in and they wanted to change the payment. It was from an estimated reading so I told him to check the meters and ring it in.
Unfortunately, this was not to be an easy job. The meters are really badly placed in our house in the understairs cupboard and he couldn’t get in as it is stuffed with “stuff”.:o
Guilt overwhelmed me as I knew there were bags of stuff to go to cash for clothes so…….half an hour later I am £7.35 richer, a bag of “We cant take that!!!” type stuff into the recycling and the meters are read!
My lovely well organised loft is about to be stuffed even fuller as DS2 is looking for a flat and is buying things that he will need and packing boxes with said items. Sadly, his bedroom is rather small so the stash is now in my bedrom, DD's room and some on the landing.
I think I will move them up today as it will look pretty impressive when the items are hidden- I can't class this a clutter because they will have a home very soon......I hope:rotfl:
Well......No time like the present....Loft here I come
xxStart by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say

Decluttered today:-
One son, 1 bed, 1 mattress,2 bedside tables, 6 shelving units (done in his trademark style ie 2 lots of dvds or books per shelf, wrap with clingfilm and move as 1), 3 sets of drawers, 1fridge-freezer, 1 couch, 1 large tv, 1 small tv (am now tv free and have notified tv licence people so 1 direct debit decluttered as well), 2 airers, 1 laundry basket, 6 underbed storage boxes, 7 cardboard boxes, 4 large (garden size) binbags full of clothes, mountain of bedding, about 20 shoebox sized articles, iron and ironing board.
Still to go 3 large cardboard boxes, 4 bags of (mountaineering gear, I
think) and about the same in small boxes - large ones at top of stairs and small ones starting on bottom step up to about the eighth. Small amount of stuff still in front room and 1 set of shelves he forgot to put in the van before we got to the shoving the mattress and bedframe bits on top of everything else.
I caved and did the things in the small front bedroom (the things still on the stairs) but I didn't want to give him any excuse to leave anything behind (took 2 years before everything went last time he went and still have a box of DS2s things that never left). One van load and one car load gone - the remainder will be removed by bus hopping. He has tomorrow and has taken Monday as a day off so fingers crossed. Oh and I still don't have the use of my fridge yet as the other one has to 'settle' in it's new home and then get to the correct temperature before transferring across (took the Chinese banquet though).
Also done :-
a piece of tape on one of the attic beams that was aggravating me (didn't seem to be any reason why it was there.
All odd socks and bobbley ones discarded ( gained an unused 5 pack from the clothes pile he didn't want, split between me and the charity shop roughly 40/60).
Broken stapler that I have looked at about 3 times and can't figure out what is wrong.
An old tapestry (wrong materials used and badly done) that I bought for a good cause and was undoing to re-use the materials - it has paid for itself as a therapeutic tool as the unpicking was restful at a stressful period in my life and I have enough materials to use in all my current projects and for some time going forward.
Binbag full of rubbish
Laundry basket full of paper recycling (running out of boxes and bags by that stage)
2 waste paper baskets of plastic/glass/metal recycling
Lady from Cats Protection is coming to collect pet carrier, food, litter and flea drops following death of (last of 4) cats last week.
Tatty off white oven gloves which I have never liked and don't really do the job. Can't remember where they came from - possibly after someone died. That is one source of my clutter - things that everyone agrees should be kept 'in the family' except not at their houses.
Still more to be done, have discovered a new ruthless streak.
I do love my sons but just at the moment feel I could live quite happily seeing DS1 a couple of times a year for the next 5 or so years.:AMy mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Well I sorted the boys bedroom out (kind of) as best I can. Brought a lot of clothes out of storage for DS2 (he is now in 2-3s across the board - at 20m! - with some 3-4s eeking in for good measure!) and put a lot of stuff he and eldest have outgrown into the relevant sized boxes. I got organised a few weeks ago adn bought archive boxes and sorted all the clothes out into sizes as there's so many!. I need to get the 12-18s down out of the loft as my 6m old is growing out of his 9-12s! My 4yo is currently starting to need his 5-6s out too!
Anyhoo, I started on the bedroom but never made it past the clothes. I seem to stall every time I need to start on the actual 'sorting' part of the room as something else needs my attention. I'm hoping to get an hour up there tomorrow but it's not looking promising as hubby wont be back til 6am so will be neither use nor ornament until midday at the earliest.
But....I have a swim seat to sell, and some odds and sods to send to the charity shop next time we head in that direction. Not too shabby!

34) base unit from previous set of landline phones (why I threw out the phones but not the base unit I'll never know)
35) 3 mobile chargers (these went to my Mum and Dad and were from phones we used to have)
36) another item from the toiletries stash used.
still no word about the job!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Husband has laid extra insulation in the loft where it was needed and has since seemed to have lost the will to go back up there
. So I've decluttered the wardrobes which has resulted in a bag of odd socks, faded underwear and the arms and necks of old tshirts going to the skip. Husband has cut the bodies out of the tshirts for large garage rags, he will disappear under them at this rate
We now only have clothes that fit hanging up or in drawers and a bag and a half of clothes and shoes to go to the CS, a plethora of coat hangers which a local CS will take but alas two more boxes for the loft. One is holiday clothes, fair enough but the other are gorgeous dresses, jackets and shoes that are a size too small (middle age spread) that I can not part with  Now how many of us have clothes in the loft that we're going to slim into?
I'm not very good at this so to cheer myself on I need to remind myself that so far I have done the bathroom cupboards, my car, airing cupboard, Christmas decorations and presents, the wardrobes and made a big dent in the junk that rests in the loft. :T
Oh and I cleared out the medicine cupboard and also the cupboard that had lots of mismatched tupperware type boxes and lids which now looks very bare. I must not refill it :rotfl:The most potent weapon of the oppressor is the mind of the oppressed. Steve Biko0 -
