:rotfl::rotfl:Discovered whats wrong with my chilli plants!
They're aubergines!
:rotfl::rotfl:
I have some small Aubergines as well - They have germinated after about 4 :eek: months in the modules, I had long given up.... I hope I can still nurture them to do something!

Now to be fair to me these were a pack of 4 chilli plants from Aldi.... I presumed they were just mixed types (jalapeno, habanero etc)....
Someone played a cruel joke on me.... Although fwiw these aubergines are growing better than my seedling onesWealth is not measured by currency0 -

That is quite mean but maybe it was a genuine mistake somewhere....
I got 2 lovely pepper plants from Lidl, I think they'll soon be on again, either this week or next..First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
At least they've grown LOL
Getting perplexed that my peppers are stunted and doing nothing.... Theyve got plenty of room, theyve had some sun, dont think ive overwatered them... hmmm off to google I go.

I have three surviving pepper plants which look fairly strong but aren't doing much. I will persevere. In other grow your own news, we had the first of our new potatoes last night and they were lovely. I used the patch of garden that DH let me have a few months ago for potatoes and I think we'll have enough for the next few months.
And I have ordered some planters with trellis backs for the small plot that couldn't be dug due to concrete. I will use them for growing beans etc.
Lovely sunny day again today but I'm out with friends so don't think I'll get a lot done in the garden. Good job I cut the grass yesterday.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
News from the plot - the old climbing frame went in position yesterday, hurray! Now I need to take out some lonely dock roots at the edge and put a lot of good compost in and it's ready for the beans to be moved to.1 lot of runners, 1 lot or French climbers and on the 3rd side I'll put a new row of sugar snap peas. The only thing I can't make up my mind about is what to put in the middle. It's a bit awkward to get in but not impossible. It will come to me when the beans are in.
When do you all decide that your potatoes are ready? I always wait until they've flowered or the leaves are going brown (or when they get blight of course).First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Potatoes, for me it's when they've flowered.Spend less now, work less later.0

I am itching to harvest one of my potato bags, nicola and freebies because of T and M having yet another mess up. 4 bags in all and all looking stonking, going by foliage anyway. Maybe this afternoon if it stops raining
One of my 3 most productive gooseberry bushes, only 4 years old, very mysteriously got toppled 5 inches up from the base. I refuse to think it might be vandalism, maybe a sharp gust of wind. Anyway I harvested the gooseberries from it and gave it a clean saw cut and am now fingers crossing that it sends up a shoot, got to laugh because I have been pulling base shoots off all spring. Was tempted to dig it out but would love it to re-grow as the root system must be good0 -
I have two bags of potatoes, one first earlies and one second earlies, but both went in a little late. The green foliage is absolutely stonking on both and I had a little rummage in the first earlies but as they haven't flowered I haven't pulled anything yet. I'll be so pleased it we get a couple of meals out of them, as they went in very late and I've done almost nothing to them after they were planted.
All my late seeds went in the raised bed last week, and I already have green shoots from the radishes, did a little happy dance! I started so late this year that I'll be thrilled if I get anything edible, but we all have to start somewhere.0
