Wrong cable?

OP you're entitled to do as you did. No doubt about that. I just wonder, no offence intended, at your lack of tolerance on the issue. I'd be considering what the measured response to the situation would be. The fact is: now you've got to go find another TV set - all for the sake of a cable!
It does sort of seem like cutting your nose off to spite your face but as I said, no offence intended, you had the right to take it back.
None taken, don't worry. To an extent you are right, it might have been a bit hasty but I think a lot of it stems from my past dealings with Currys. They are a pain in the backside at times. Although credit where it's due, they did refund me my money today without much of a fight.

My 2 LG sets came with Figure-of- eight power leads with a UK plug. This allows sets to be shipped to any country. I have not seen a TV with a captive plug in years.
My brand spanking new Samsung has one, as did my previous 3yo Sony.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I have no reservations in condemning Currys for customer service over the telephone. I usually find them ok once you go face to face in a store. Knowing this however if I had to phone them I'd, first of all try to find a way not to, and secondly be aware I was going to be messed about.
I don't think you were hasty - that's not the word I would use. To an extent you're a bit like me in that you dug your heels in from the word go and wouldn't change your mind once you'd made it. I'm often left in situations where I realise I could have handled something better. That's kind of what I'm saying to you but hey - if you're happy with what you've done, then fair play to you!
It would have been easier just to ask for the right cable in-store though - wouldn't it?
In fact you probably had spare two pin cables lying about at home, I know I do.
Good luck sussing out your new TV.0 -

Samsung with a captive plug, really?
Hung a brand spanking new Samsung on the wall for my son a couple of weeks ago. It's got a tiny figure 8 connector . . and a choice of 3 leads with different mains plugs on the wall end . . . very european lol0
