Wrong cable?

Unless I'm misunderstanding the OP, any electrical appliances sold in the UK have to be supplied with the correct (3-pin) mains cable anyway.
Why would a UK-sold TV require a 2-pin one? That's more what you'd find on the Continent.0 -
My 2 LG sets came with Figure-of- eight power leads with a UK plug. This allows sets to be shipped to any country. I have not seen a TV with a captive plug in years.
No nor me, all 3 TV's at my house have either C13 or C7 (figure 8) lead. Just checked at work and not one has a captive power lead0 -

I think it depends on the TV.
Cheap sets, and those intended only for sale in the UK will generally come with a fixed lead (it's cheaper than a separate cable).
More expensive sets, especially those that might be sold in different countries will likely come with a detatchable power cable these days, as it's cheaper for the manufacturer to make one set, then bung it in a box with the relevant cable and instruction manual.
Of the 5 LCD TV's in our house (4 brands including a cheapy from tesco), all of them have removable power cables of the same sort computer monitors (and computers themselves) have been using for decades.
Re the op.
Personally I suspect that if the TV isn't usable as bought you could return it, but it being DSG you may have problems (my personal experience of DSG CS over the years is pretty much unprintable, I vowed never to use them again about 5 years ago after one problem too many).
But the cost of taking the set back is probably going to be more than popping into Wilko, or Argos and getting the correct cable (but then again, if their CS is being this bad with such a simple issue, I'd hate to try it if there was a fault).0 -
Oh sorry, when I say 3 pin I meant the end that plugs in to the television, not the wall. It required a figure of 8 connection but came with what almost looked like a kettle lead.0

Most TV are the same spec as monitors now, as playstation; x-boxes etc are plugged into them via the HMDI port.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

So it was a C7 required but they gave you a C13.
Why didn't you just get them to give you the correct lead, a wrong lead is hardly deal breaking to the point of returning the whole tv.0 -

Because as I stated earlier, it was the principle of the thing and the fact their customer service was appalling.0 -
So have you a replacement TV from somewhere else or no telly but you have your principles.0
-
Because I'm kind of annoyed at their shoddy customer service so out of principle I'd prefer not to have to deal with them any further and would prefer to buy the product from elsewhere. I've had the television sat here unusable since yesterday.
A telly unusable for a whole day.
That is shoddy customer service.0
