  • Well thanks to some super swift turn around, I've now been put out of my misery and didn't do too badly on last night's files so that's a relief. It's around £27 towards next month's invoice. I wonder if I get a weekend file.

    Happy Monday diary land!

Well I did get a weekend file so I am rather pleased as that's another £30 ish to the January pay. Currently standing at £57.31 by my reckoning. When that pay comes through it will go straight to the CCV balance which shall be gone by Xmas 2015!

It is DD's birthday in February so I will need to prepare for that. She can have a friend over and we can do a tea party for family, then maybe take them to the cinema instead of paying for a party as it'll keep costs down and she will enjoy it just as much.

Can you tell the planning mood is still with me :) I have a lot on though so must crack on there.

Accounts are stable for today. Dec is a day by day month!

Oh I paid the last to Next so no more spending on that :)

Accounts are stable, waiting for Job # 2 money to hit by 14th.

  • Good plan re the birthday, that's the sort of thing we do for ours. Big parties are so expensive and all seem to be much of a muchness to me- smaller get togethers and special trips out for a couple of children are more personal and special anyway I think.

  • Good Morning diary land!

Only Tuesday but hey ho, that means tomorrow is the middle of the week. To be honest, I have that much going on that I could do with this week slowing down a touch.

Yesterday I had a stinking headache and do today too, not impressed and no time for it.

So money wise I should have been paid for job 2 now which means I can go and get DH's xmas gift. I'll do that after school on Thurs. It's right in the middle of town and I don't fancy going but it is xmas after all. I really need to write a list of what's left to get. I finish on the 19th for Job 1 but if I need anything delivering (preferred method!) then I need to get going sooner.

I got a job in last night and it was a nice file in that not too big, higher paid one but poor quality. I don't know if I will get paid for the poor quality but my poor ears paid for it when it went so quiet then a huge rustling of papers right over the microphone meaning I jumped out my skin a few times. I did get to bed by 11 though so I was happy. If I get poor quality payment it'll be £22 ish, otherwise £16 ish. Job 2 also sent out an email last night which may bring something interesting for the new year but I don't want to over-commit so we shall see. I am starting to keep an accurate listing of how long it's taking me to type how much and so on. I knew I would get all technical....that's just me!

    Off to check accounts.

  • I read that email last night with interest as well. There was one a few weeks ago that said rates were going to go up next year too, that combined with the extra offered by the subject last night's email (and there's another payment layer above that, but I don't know if anyone's actually on it - have you found those Excel sheets with all the rates for the various tiers on in the Downloads section?) would really mean it makes sense for me to go back to typing unless they seriously up the PR rate.

Small file in tonight but at a slightly higher rate. I have 1h 30 spare to work on it now so will do. A bit more money. :)

  • Morning all :)

Middle of the week! I could have stayed in bed this morning when I looked over the covers to the dark! The kids were still sound asleep and even the dog wasn't padding around in the kitchen. DH had left an hour and a half before bless him. I can't wait until we can afford for him to leave that job. It's not the hours, it's the place. Awful people he works for, all about business and no people skills. They complained when he had his breakdown that it wasn't convenient! Well, no, it wasn't for me either especially when my world was already falling apart over my Mum!!!

    Sorry, rant over.

So January's invoice now stands at £87 ish. I am going to have to look into what I will get taxed as I'm in a full time salaried job now and Job 2 is self-employed. I have no idea how much tax I will have to set aside but will do so from January's pay - maybe 25%? Or is there none under a certain amount? Or does my other job get included and this will add on top of my annual salary? Any accountants out there?

Busy day again today at work and home. Lots to do and as we know, I prefer to be busy so this is a good thing.

  • Your other job gets included - when you come to do your self-assessment form at the end of the financial year, there's a section to put your details of employed work which you just take off your year end thingy (P60? It's been so long, I can't remember!). So assuming your total earnings from all sources don't breach the higher rate band and your employed work takes up all of your nil rate band, you'll be taxed at 20% on everything from Job 2 PLUS your Class 4 National Insurance on Job 2 earnings. I put 25% away to be safe and am hoping to have a little bit over from it come the day of reckoning!

By the way, are you paying Class 2 NI or have you applied for an exemption? If you're not going to break £5,885 from Job 2, you can get out of them :)http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/cf10.pdf
