Your best bet is a healthy diet and don't put any polish on til they've gotten better. You shouldn't need products - after all you essentially grow your nails from what you eat. They do help improve things a bit but your nails are dead so improvements will be very shall compared to change in diet. It will take a long time for results to show though!Hi. I use OPI nail envy and OPI avoplex cuticle oil. I rub tht into my nails and cuticles at least twice a day and i'm starting to notice a difference. I recently bought some almond oil as a cheaper option but was not impressed. May try thr solar oil in the future too.SPC 0370

Healthy diet, yes, that's the first thing. I would also suggest that you cut your nails with good quality nail scissors, then tidy them up with a file, rather than just filing them. Avoid shellac like the plague - I have good nails, and used shellac for the Christmas party season 2012. It was April 2013 before my nails stopped flaking!! Another suggestion - wear gloves for tough jobs or if your hands are going to be in water for a long time.No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0

Please do not buy Shellac or Solar Oil from eBay.
These products are only available to professionals from two main suppliers in the UK and eBay selling is certainly not permitted.
If you have bought Shellac from eBay, I hate to tell you but you have probably bought a fake. I understand that it's cheap on eBay but the potential damage this stuff can be causing to your natural nails isn't worth it. Please, don't use it.
My advice would definitely be Solar Oil, although bought from a reputable salon. A small bottle can be quite cheap considering how long it will last you. It's a fantastic product and will really help your nail health and growth!
If you have a spare £10-£15 per month, you will probably be able to get your nails done by a professional with a gel polish. It really will be worth it for strong natural nails. Being done by a professional will also keep them healthy.0 -
Can't confirm this one as I've not tried it (yet) but I've heard that Sainsbury's do a vitamin pill for hair & nails, and it's apparently brilliant!Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A0
