Ask this about a phone a couple of years ago, i would have said 16gb definitely beyond shadow of a doubt. Today though, it's very different music, videos, photos, emails tend to be stored online so not locally on your phone.

I've just got the Moto G on Monday and went for the 8gb one, think it'll be fine.

Times - they are a changing!
  • I got the 16Gb one of that 12.92Gb is available to use, I moved to this phone from a HTC One X and i'm not missing a high end phone one bit this one suits my needs

I suppose if it had bigger memory it would sell on better, Just a thought.

How about saying thank you very much to O2's offers, buy the phone outright and transfer your number to an Sim-Only deal?

Saves getting locked into another 24 month contract

Yep or from £99 at Tesco and then (completely legally these days!) unlock it on eBay for another 2 quid to make it SIM free.

With no add on memory you need the largest size .

Define "add on" though? You can add storage via USB OTG if you want to take a few films on a trip or something.

The 8Gb Moto G does me fine.

I don't store any media locally, but use Google Play Music All Access for music; all my photos are on Google+ and other documents are in Drive.

I still have 3.5Gb free after installing around 50 apps.
I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

Spoke to O2 again yesterday, they cannot supply a Moto G in 16GB form so I have got my PAC from them and will port number over to Tesco. I know that the Tesco network is the same coverage as O2 (wife has a Tesco mobile and no issues with reception).

A bit surprised that O2 didn't come back with any other offers to retain the contract but I did it via Webchat so maybe retentions only get involved if there is a phone conversation involved.

My only (slight) concern is lead times in getting a handset from Tesco as I know from the forum that stock availability is variable. Don't want to leave it too late and incur another months payment to O2 if I can't get the handset in time, but don't want to get the Tesco handset too early and pay for 2 contracts during February.
  • Genuinely can't understand why anyone would tie themselves into a 24 month contract for a phone that costs so little to buy upfront. I got my 8GB Moto G from Tesco for £89 plus £2 to unlock it so £91. Works out at just £3.80/mth over the course of 24 months. Add any of the plethora of 30 day SIM only deals to that (starting at exactly nowt!) for a superb, and FLEXIBLE, mobile package.
