Hi,
I am due an upgrade to my mobile and am looking at getting the Moto G.

My contract is with O2 and they appear to be offering me an 8GB phone with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500 MB (more than enough for me) at £17 per month (24 month contract) with cash back of £150.00, so effectively £10.75 per month.
Alternatively, Tesco are offering 500 Minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB data at £12.50 per month but with a 16GB version of the phone.

So my question is - how much difference is there in day to day useage between an 8GB and a 16GB version of the same phone? I only really use the phone for browsing and emails and would like to able to play music on it, I don't download games or watch much in the way of video on the phone.

Would the 8GB version be ok for my needs?

Thanks

There is no any direct relation between the phone memory and your daily usage.

Thanks for the reply, what therefore is the advantage (if any) of having the 16GB phone over the 8GB version?

You can fit 8 extra gigabytes of data on there! Simple as that. I could manage if my phone only held 8 GB but everyone is different.

If you wish to keep photos or music on your phone they will eat into the remaining memory. On the 8GB Moto G, there is a little under 5GB free after the base operating system is accounted for. As you add more apps the memory becomes slowly depleted.

Having said that, most apps use only a small amount of memory. OTOH, if you have many mp3's, video files and photos they will quickly eat up the remaining memory. Personally, I went for the 16GB version but your needs may be different.

When you receive the phone, you won't have 8 or 16 GB of free memory. That's because the OS takes a huge chunk (several GBs of space). I would suggest going with 16 GB if you budget allows that.

It depends on how many apps/videos/pictures/music you want to have on the phone. My phone has 32GB, and it's almost full.
