  • I booked for first time last night to stay at a haven. Price was £59.25 for 6 people. Received the service charge and entertainment passes email taking it to £149.10. I checked with haven direct and the same holiday same standard including all passes is £125. Has anyone else had this problem?? The price match is only for groups up to 4 people. Even so the same holiday for 4 people is still £125. How is the sun holidays a deal???

Thank you. I have looked on Trip Advisor and read quite alot of reviews (not sure which one is yours though).
It does sound like a nice site, but I am concerned about the extra costs to try and keep my children entertained.....
We have been to 'Chateaux des Ormes' in Brittany for the last 3 years - this is an excellent site but just wanted to try somewhere new and hopefully slightly better weather. Any other advise, great fully received? Parc Asterix - worth a visit? Nearby supermarket?
    Many thanks

Parc Asterix definately worth visiting, our 7yr old daughter much preferred it than EuroDisney!! It also has a dolphin and seal show a couple times of day. Rides for all ages and some VERY scary.Took us about 45 mins on the motorway, easy signs to follow on and off the motorway.
Compiegne has big Carrefour and is located on big site with lots of other stores like our equivalant shopping/industrial estates. There is a small Intermache near the site but never visited it but there's another one much bigger along the N31 before Compiegne.
Pierrefonds is 20 mins away and it's the chateau where Merlin is filmed. It's reasonably priced and thoroughly enjoyable.
Hope you have a good time. We're hoping to go back again so it's not that bad.( I am very fussy!!!)

As many have stated before, you should always do your homework first and check with the site direct. The Sun holidays are very good deals for families that want to go away during school holidays when prices are stupid direct. They are also good value for people that only want to use the accommodation as a base and so don't have entertainment passes or linen.
Shame you didn't get a deal but many of us do and that's why they are so popular.

I second the vote for Parc Asterix. Definitely worth a visit. Although the teens were more impressed with the rides at Disneyland Paris. Parc Asterix has more rides for younger kids. You can use Tesco points to buy tickets.

We made use of the smaller Intermache near the site, and can vouch for it. It has everything you need at reasonable prices.

As for the activities at the park, use of the swimming pools is free. However, they do have bike hire (which all parks charge for), trampolining, pedalos, canoes, and mini electric motorbikes (only suitable for small kids) - all of these activities attract a fee. However, I think you will find that other parks would also charge for these activities.

  • Hello,
Can someone please help.. I have booked my first sun holiday
I went with a 'pay only £9.50' date at Butlins Bognor but my confirmation has a cost for entertainment and service passes. Is this normal?
I thought the dates next to the red and white pay only £9.50 logo had no extra charges?
    Thanks

The one that I linked to was the one that Pealy fixed last January. It worked for me - I didn't have to keep pressing the button. But iirc last year the first spreadsheet worked for loads of people, and I was one of the minority that had to keep pressing the button. The problem was something to do with the error message that the website was sending back if your code words weren't correct.

I've asked around, and nobody I know knows how to write/tweak excel macros.

I do. I don't have Excel on my desktop PC (hence needed to check codes manually) but I can check it using my hubby's work laptop when he's not working. I'll take a look but it won't be for a couple of days because I'm meant to be filing accounts!

    Glad you've sorted it

Hope you've managed to re-book at cheaper price elsewhere. I've just checked on Sun's priority website and only 1 of the 6 holidays I booked is still available.
