I've had 3 days of being in sole charge of the kids now (well, while hubby is at work, he's wonderful at getting stuck in when he gets back home). Kids are fed and clean and I've not been rocking in the corner crying!!

It was tough earlier when my toddler decided to have a meltdown tantrum as she had refused to nap and the baby was screaming for milk at the same time. One crying at a time is okay, both at once is really hard :(

Baby has been cluster feeding through the afternoons and early evenings, although not too bad at night. I am hoping this is the 2 week growth spurt and will be over very very soon!

    Hello everyone

Hope you are okay Nutella, our vendor pulled out when we were close to exchanging last year and I know how gutting it is, big hugs x x

Hope everyone else is okay? Feels like I havent posted here properly for ages now. I do read back, usually when I am in bed though and am too tired to post haha!

My little boy will be 2 on Tuesday :eek: what the actual?! I cannot believe where the time has gone. We caved in and have booked him a birthday party, all his litle mates at nursery had one and we were literally the only ones not doing one! Its just at the soft play centre and we are doing a pirate theme as he loves them!! I am more excited than he is, bought him a special shirt with little smiling skull and crossbones on from asda!

Great news about the potty Gilly, Aiden has done one wee on his which I think was coincidence tbh. He sits on it every night before bath time, but usually wees in the bath haha!!

Crabapple, congrats on your new baby. I remember you posting when your first was a baby and I was a lurker and pregnant...gosh. I feel a bit emotional that mines 2 already!!

    Night girls x x

Big hugs nutella that is so sh** x cd your in laws sound funny. Why wouldn't they want to spend time with you all? My in laws don't know we've had a baby! I guess you'd say OH is estranged from them but it feels odd knowing his family have no idea. I'm seeing my friend today and really looking forward to it as I've been home alone for 2 days with lo. Tuesday was lovely but yesterday was carp .. I'm being made redundant sometime this year which was confirmed as March but has now been put back to god knows when as work can't decide. Spoke to them yesterday to try and explain I have to find childcare (I wasnt planning to work straight aftrr redundancy). It was basically a case of them not knowing and asking couldn't family look after him if it was after my return date. So I think I'm going to return to work early because I can't risk them telling me so late in day the only nursery places left aren't the best and I don't get paid smp for the last couple of the months so need some sort of salary ( I would have a lump sum from redundancy). In the meantime I could be made redundant though although they are saying end of year so I'm totally unsure what to do really other than just go back and secure a nursery place/get some salary as smp ends ..gahhh!
  • Huggsss nutella. That must be sooo stressful.

Yep bangton my inlaws are funny. We organised the photo shoot purely because Scarlett's family were all together for the 1st time. Yet like 3 days before my mother in law rings to ask us if we really want them to go...

Then a few days after the shoot my husband tells me that his mum was upset with what I said. Had no idea what he was on about as the photo shoot to me had gone fine. But apparently I had said something along the lines of 'We've got all our photos' and she over heard that and took offence that I didn't want any with them.

If she had bothered to actually see who I was talking too it was in fact the photographer and I was stating that 'we've' as in my family (my parents and sister) have got all the combinations we wanted so it was hubby's families turn to get what combinations they wanted.

I kept telling people to make a list of what photos they wanted because when we got married it wasn't until we looked back at photos that we realised we'd missed some combinations out. I didn't want that to happen again.

When he told me I instantly was annoyed cos I said 'I can't win and cannot be bothered anymore'. His reply was 'Don't be like that'

Anyway moving on....roughly how old was your lo when you started weaning??? Scarlett is 5mths told today and debating if we start with some baby rice for her. Just recently she's taking 32-33oz of milk a day, going to bed early (for her) at 6:30pm but then is wide awake at 4:15am like clock work for the last 3 mornings.

She's having her last bottle at about 5:30pm where as she used to have her last bottle at 6:30 - 7pm and be in bed 8pm which would see her sleep until 6am.

Just really really unsure if milk isn't enough for her now. Even though she is 5mths old today I did have her 2 weeks late.

Bangton that sounds rubbish, hope the redundancy pay will give you some lovely time with LO after the stress work is putting you through.

congratulations crabapple and frano hope you're getting lots of rest and newborn cuddles.

Cd gorgeous piccie. Hope you feel happier now.

I can't remember the name of the lady who asked about building work. We're currently having our kitchen and bathroom done. I've stayed at my parent's for two weeks because of the dust. I'm hoping to go back this weekend but kitchen isn't done. I'm hoping it'll be done soon cos LO is 25 weeks this weekend and I want to do baby led weaning at 26 weeks! It seems so strange that LO will be eating food in a week or so. He cant sit up by himself yet so I hope that still means he can start weaning.
  • Morning all, sorry to hear about the redundancy bangton xx
cd, we started weaning at 5.5mths, baby rice, I started with one spoon a day around mid morn between bottles. Then built up although tbh baby rice stinks and you can get the baby porridge from 4mths which is nice and smooth. If lo is hungry maybe give her some around teatime to see if it fills her?
Bntm, my lo couldnt sit up when we started weaning, not blw. Its very scary when they start eating food,

im going to drop one of lo bottles at teatime as he spat it out and he had been leaving some of it,, did anyone replace it with a pudding? Obs he has tea as well!X

Be nice it was me who asked about having work done (to the house!). And thanks very much to the other ladies for replying. The issue really is that it will be a minimum of 4 months work, we won't be able to use our garden and there will be at least 6 weeks of the work where we can't physically be in the house and our parents homes are 1 and 2 hours away so we'd be apart from hubby. But it would be just fab to have it done! The surveyors are measuring up now so fingers crossed they can come up with some plans that will work for us.

CD sorry you have funny in laws! At least you got some nice family pics and your own family got to meet Scarlett :) Re weaning, we are a few weeks behind you at 19 weeks, at the weaning clinic the HV said if babies were showing signs of being hungry at 22 weeks to start them on baby rice but otherwise to wait until about 24-26 weeks. Sorry this is not that helpful but I am planning on starting A on food at 24 weeks if she doesn't show hunger signs beforehand x
  • Lobey my OH came to see us at the weekend, maybe your OH could do that. LO's grandparents live 2 or 4 hours away!

Thanks for the weaning advice x
  • Be aware that weaning has drawbacks too though. I'm not talking about the possible link to later digestive issues (though that's important too), but we have found that LO actually sleeps worse! She's really enjoying the food but doesn't want as much milk in the day and now wakes up a couple of times a night looking for it then.

Also blw is messy as heck, though I am so glad we did it as she's coming on really well with her coordination and tries everything.
  • I'm glad you said that Oscar as OH is pushing for early weaning as he thinks it's a magic sleep solution!
