    Hello everyone!

I have made it a goal to be more active. I really enjoyed the various boards when I was preggo and found them to be a source of great knowledge and giggles.

I had my son on June 15th 2013 and he is six and a half months old. Where the time has gone I have no idea. Toby is a fantastic little boy: always happy, a fab sleeper and a little charmer (he has an eye for the ladies. Sometimes I think the term 'dirty flirt' is more appropriate and I am already sensing trouble on the horizon for when he is older).

I have a keepsake box. I just bought a pretty box from Laura Ashley and in it there is his scan pictures, cards, his umbilical cord (I know, I know), his tags, first outfit and other bits and pieces.

    Evening all :hello:

Hope everyone's well. I seem to have disappeared into lurkdom, but haven't had anything interesting to say (and I still don't!).

Back to work tomorrow after two weeks off - boo! :o Have had a really good and productive weekend though - we're having our flat valued on Tuesday, so been decluttering and sorting out bits and pieces to make it look as presentable as possible.

We started learning letters today - LO's got magnetic ones for the freezer and foam ones for the bath. We're starting with the letters in her name - today's was 'S'. She'd pick it up and say 'ssssssss!' and seemed to really enjoy picking up letters, getting me to say the sound and then trying to say it herself :D

Off to bed in a minute - am knackered and have a busy week ahead of me.... Hope everyone's had a good weekend.
  • Evening all,
I think we're getting words :D We've had eyyo, mama (usually when crying), baba for her toys and rara/wawa for attention for the past week or so, incredibly cute, I love hearing her babble away
  • Hello ladies

Haven't been posting much, not really got much to say expect my lo is standing now :) started pulling himself up to the sofa today. I can't help wondering where my little baby has gone, he doesn't seem to little now he can stand, it's like all of a sudden it's become real that he's a little person and not a baby... If you get my drift?

Off to an appointment for his helmet tomorrow, he's been wearing it for 3 weeks now so only 23 more to go ha! Oh keeps looking at his head expecting it to have improved, I keep saying it's too early but it's hard to see the bigger picture when we have so long to go. I miss seeing his pretty head. I try and make a big deal of him when he has his half hour off, by giving lots of kisses and cuddles to his naked head!

    How's everyone's new year starting?
Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!

Aw, bet he looks cute in his little helmet though MrsH. T has started pulling himself up and you're right, he's a proper little boy now.
Sorry for your loss Claret, I think you'll just find a way. Don't forget 9months of cooking and in your room for 6months (longer if you need) is time to work things out.
I had a bit of a melt down as to what to do with a baby that just wants to pull himself up all day. I think in my head I hadn't accepted how long per day I'd just be sat in one room watching him mosey about. The lounge is by far the safest room for him to be in... No plugs he can reach, nothing precarious about, he loves moving from toy to toy, to DVDs to sofa but I'm just supervising really. I'll play with him quite a lot, but my imagination doesn't extend to hours (and I must confess my energy levels as play is quite active) the other day I noticed we'd been in the same room for 5 hours (with daytime telly on in the background, that's mind numbing!). I try to take him out for a walk in the pushchair in the afternoon too, maybe prep dinner whilst he's in high chair with me in kitchen, and naps are starting to get better.... Was fine a being put down, but then went through a stage of not settling at all, so had a few sleeps on me, now goes down for 20 mins, or will have a good 1.5 - 2hr rest on me if he's held), but he lives nothing more than just being free to move about, so I have given in to an extent that there may be days I've a "dull" afternoon, but other days I've tried to mix it up a bit, go out just after lunch (we used to always generally go out in the morning) try to stagger some activities to move him from room to room a little more.
Urge, sorry, that post is a little dull, hopefully I'll have something more exciting to say next time.x

Hi Vic we are good thanks, she's been getting a bit upset with trapped wind but otherwise ok, giving us lots of smiles! She's getting so big now, just outgrown all tiny baby/ first size stuff so now into newborn size I feel so sad packing things away! How are you and Thomas? OH leaves tomorrow :( part of me is interested to see how I will cope but part of me is terrified of looking after both on my own, DS has been playing up so much lately :( xx

Aww chick. You know where I am if you need a chat. I'm sorry your other little one is playing up. Hugs xx

Thomas is now into 0-3 months. I packed away the newborn stuff as his legs are too long for it.

morning all, as it is my first time on a computer in a while I thought I should probably add myself to the list. Happy new thread and happy new year!

    Amy, Congrats and welcome :)

Nessie, C is still in our room and will likely be for a while longer. We are very fortunate to have a large room, which fits our bed, two lockers and his cot bed. I am not sure when we will move him into his own room, I am still feeding him at night and the idea of having to get up and go and get him seems like a bit of effort. i think as we have the room for it we will wait till he is at least 6 months!

Lobey, no advice re getting baby to settle for her evening nap, it may just be a fussy time for her or maybe she is getting ready to drop the nap?

Saffagal, big hugs for work being a pain. I hope you manage to get sorted to attend the interview. I am currently doing up my CV to see what other options are out there for me but getting the time and headspace to do it properly is next to impossible.

BeNice, hugs for dropping percentiles, how many percentiles is he from his birth weight? I thought it was only an issue if they drop 2 or more and babies do grow in spurts so he may be gearing up for a growth spurt. In terms of weight gain, the big thing that got C's weight gain back on track was plenty of night feeds. I used to wake him to nurse every 4 hours until I was happy he was on track. As for sleeping a full night, chance would be a fine thing in this house. C seemed to hit a growth spurt around 3 months were he was up every 2-3 hours for a week or two. I got back my lovely sleeping baby (only one feed at around 3) for about a week or two till he hit 4 months. For the last week he alternates between being up every 1.5 hours to every 3 hours. If he nurses immediately he goes straight back asleep if I dont or if DH tries to settle him (rarely but it does happen) he will end up awake for hours.

Sparkles hugs for a poorly baby over christmas

Cake4brains hugs for poorly LOs but yay for getting out for a good night out!

Claretsgirl, I am so sorry for your loss, big hugs

Abis, I dont remember if you are breastfeeding or bottle feeding. I bf but one of my friends swears by the Dr Brown anti-colic bottles for bottle fed babies, she had not luck with anything else for her DS's colic. For C, infacol made no difference. I used baby massage and I found cutting out coffee made a big difference to him. Hard though when you have a baby that doesnt sleep!

Nutella, Boo for returning to work but fantastic to be learning letters. It is amazing how fast they develop. I ordered that footmuff you recommended for amazon and it is due to arrive today or tomorrow. Am very excited to try it out

MrsH, hope LO is adjusting to his helment and wow for being able to stand.

KScarlet, hugs for DH going away for work.

AFM we are trucking along, still not great on the sleep front althought I am classing last night as progress as I was only up every 3 hours! C is currently taking his morning nap after a 6am start for us all and DH is in work so I am enjoying some quiet computer time for once. I should probably be catching some rest but at the same time I feel I need some me time. I am heading back to yoga tonight so i am really looking forward to that :)
