My work is doing my head in at the moment. I was told categorically that I wouldn't have to attend an interview because of being on mat leave; I have now received an invitation to interview. Trying to get it sorted with my manager because A) there is no one who could watch A as OH didn't book any leave because I was informed there would be no need and B) I would have to wake A at silly o'clock to get there for the time they have allocated me.
I would just like work to disappear and let me enjoy the remainder of my mat leave without their butting in thank you very much!

    Rant over - sorry ladies

In other news A has decided that she is a "big girl" now and is walking across the lounge with her walker :( I would like my baby back please.

That's rubbish, saf, I hope you get it sorted.

I've been trying to get eilis to self settle for her naps, it's such a horrible thing. She used to do it before she had her wee virus and then she got used to me rocking her, pest!

Been seriously scrubbing the house over the last few days, I'm actually excited for my new Hoover arriving tomorrow :rotfl:

  • oh dear Saff, sorry to hear work is being a pain.

Got LO weighed and he's dropping down the percentiles again. HV were calm and just said get him weighed in 2 weeks. OH wants to give formula and thinks I'm being stubborn wanting to EBF still. Gonna try and express and give him lots of feeds during the day and see how it goes.

We have been putting LO in his cot at about 11/12 ish but he started sleeping in his bouncer about 8pm quite often so I've put him in his cot at 8:30pm. I've heard of these babies that sleep 7pm to 7am but I don't think they really exist! If he doesn't wake up I'll have to express. I figure more sleep will help with his weight gain fingers crossed.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm afraid BeNice T still doesn't do a full night very often. He'll wake at some point during the night after going down about 8 ish, but has quite a big feed, so I think he's probably waking up hungry or thirsty. I always tend to get up at night for a wee, generally always have done, so it doesn't bother me and I'm rarely up for 10mins, so I don't feel I need to be any more strict. Go with the flow, LO will settle their own routine.x

We're on self settling without the dummy now. She's only been napping for 30 mins tops but she's still been hungry when she wakes up - apparently this is a 'sleep cycle' and she wakes up looking for her dummy and because she doesn't have it she can't get back to sleep.

The problem with eilis and controlled crying (I know some of you disagree with it) is that she doesn't actually cut when she wakes up - she just shouts. So do I do controlled shouting or just leave her to it? :rotfl:

Ps. It's 3am, it'd be so easy to give her a dummy right now.

BeNice my son was one of those babies who slept 12 hours from 8pm until 8am from 5 weeks old I was so lucky! Unfortunatly my 5 week old daughter is waking as and when! She does go longer stretches (so 5 or 6 hours) but overall it's very random! I am pleased as it could be worse but I do wish my son would have slept rubbish and she slept for longer as having two to look after on my own I feel shattered! Xx

Claree I know what you mean, at 3am a dummy doesn't seem so bad to get a bit more sleep! I've heard controlled crying is so heartbreaking to do but really worth it in the long run, you have to sleep to function as a parent! These babies are lucky they are cute lol! Xx

Scarlett, I've done it once so I'll do it again. She's been up mostly for the past 3 hours though (on and off) but I've come this far! Bloody dummy's have a lot to answer for, I never wanted to give her one in the first place!! Don't get me wrong, I was happy when it was settling her and I didn't have to sit in my hallway like a lunatic at 5am!!
  • So I took LO to be weighed yesterday and he's now 16lb 5. They had to weigh him twice as they thought it must be wrong (he's 12 weeks), until they took a look at him and realised yes, he is massive. He's been snuffly and grumpy but already seems a lot better today. I'm fighting a losing battle with his nails though, no matter what I do he's still scratching himself - massive scratch in his ear this morning!
