Evening ladies
Hi fluff; Freddie is gorgeous! and looking SO grown up!
Yay for the successful potty training... am wanting to cross that hurdle, but also dreading it lol
Monday night A was up every hour and a half for a minimum of half an hour each time... Tuesday morning she had a new tooth and I was SHATTERED so work was tough going. Tuesday evening she was in bed at 7, and I was in bed by 8pm.
Last night and tonight she has taken 2hrs to put to bed... during dinner she starts crying, then screams through her bath, through getting dressed and into her sleeping bag (our usual routine) then stops screaming whilst she has milkies, then grins at me and just wants to play, then screams, has more milk (still bf), then grins and repeatI've ended up going and lying on my bed and pretending to fall asleep as a last resort and she's finally dropped off then. I don't think I can take another night of this
Why is she doing this? and to top my week off, my car broke down yesterday. I was rescued by a lovely AA man and the most amazing service from my local garage meant I could get into work today though I am rather poorer than I was before. Oh well... needs must!
Oh yes, and what we do... at home I do loads of garden play - playing with water, "gardening, watering plants, digging etc", playing with a ball, swinging, sliding, running in the garden or indoors - reading books, drawing (crayons or koki pens, usually whilst sitting in high chair), playing with toys - alone or with me, chasing the cat, watching Balamory/ Zingzillas/ Justin's House/ Mr Tumble though I only allow one program each day. She also "helps" me with chores like cooking, cleaning and her favourite the laundry. We also go out at least once a day either to an organised group like Music Bugs or swimming or to the local garden centre to look at the animals there or to the park or out shopping etc if that is what I need to do.
Have a lovely weekend all x0 -
Hugs Saffa, I feel your pain. Little man is in sleep regression right now and it's hell!
I had over a week where he wouldn't sleep for more than 2.5 hours at a time. Last night he did a 4 hour stretch, which would have been lovely except that he wouldn't settle. I had about half an hour sleep myself before he woke up crying, then he was up for over 2.5 hours. About an hour in, when he was screaming for no apparent reason, my toddler woke up crying about 'snakes' 'wriggling' 'scary'.
Hubby was on a very rare night out so I was stuck with the pair of them, wanting to cry myself! When he got back things were quiet but neither were sleeping - I had little man calm but rolling round his cot and her bouncing on my bed but at least no longer crying about snakes!
He took over with her, I got little man finally to go back to sleep about 12.45am, she was up until 2. Today is not going to be fun!
I always try to get out of the house with them because it saves my sanity. I go to some playgroups, go to tesco if nothing better occurs, soft play, visiting grandparents or friends. Someone mentioned getting a membership - we've got a wildfowl and wetlands place near us and that membership is worth it's weight in gold because she loves going to feed the ducks! ('Hello ducks, lunchtime, I got food for you!').
If I can stay awake long enough I'm thinking of pets at home today because we need cat biscuits but she will love seeing the rabbits and fish. Very cheap visit to the zoo!!
Oh yeah, and we watch tv too!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Sorry that everyone's babies seem to be not sleeping too, it's awful!
lazywife oddly naps are somewhat better, sometimes he settles to sleep straight away in my arms and I can transfer to cot easily most of the time but bedtime is totally different. We have a basic bedtime routine of night nappy, pjs, bottle in dark quiet bedroom with white noise - we aren't using grobags at the minute as it's too hot. I can't read a story as he screams because I won't let him rip the pages, he also hates the bath and screams so bath time is during the day. I try to give him plenty of floor time during the day to burn up his energy but he seems to have tons still!
We are now crawling!! I'm hoping this will mean he is much more tired at bedtime but he's now practicing in the cot during the night and banging his head on his headboard. He also has a rather odd crawl but I'm guessing as he practices if will get more normal? He's also much better at rolling so he doesn't stop as he can now get to where he wants to go and then stand up.
Nappy changes are officially a nightmare! He immediately flips onto his belly and crawls off leaving a trail of poo, occasionally wiping his bum on me for good measure
Re blw (again) I've been offering lots of new foods but some of them he won't even pick up never mind taste, I've tried cutting them up different ways but he still knows and won't touch them. I've also noticed he's only really interested in carbs at the minute and has upped his milk intake, I'm guessing this is because he needs more energy now he's mobile rather than he's just become fussy?0 -
WOAD - have you tried one of those baby bucket things for bathtime? Sometimes they feel insecure in lots of water but are better if they have the sides around them.
I'd guess with the food he is choosing the stuff that fills him up for all this crawling!
Today has been a very very long day. I could so do with a nap but my toddler doesn't believe in them any more. So I'm trying to lie down on the sofa and at least be chilled for a bit. Then she comes and jumps on me. Hubby gets home about 5.15 so at least then we can divide and maybe conquer?!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

oh WOAD .. Big hugs. I hope things improve soon. He sounds like he's conquering an awful lot of skills and that's probably why he won't settle. is he usually a good sleeper?
We had a better night last night. One wake up call and then slept till 6.45. I'm not getting excited though - that's one good night in 7!
I'd be a fraud giving advice when I don't really know what I'm doing sleep wise!! I will say though, for whatever reason my son will settle with a comfort blanket (he's never had one before). I don't know what made me try it but it worked.
Also on the grobag thing it's definitely synonymous with sleep at our house. The one night I didn't put him in one (he threw up on it! ) he didn't sleep well at all. It must be like a swaddle thing (I'm the same- have to have a duvet whatever the weather). You can get grobags in 0.5 tog. I use a 1 tog as it's currently 22/23 degrees at night in lo's room and he just wears a short sleeved vest/nappy and thin grobag.
Just suggestions there really based on things that work with my son but chances are tonight they won't work! !
hope everyone else is well and sorry to all us mums with sleep issues xx0
