The great thing about the right of abode is I do sail through the UK airport as I go through the same queue as UK passport holders.
We just don't have the funds for me to apply for citizenship and kinda no point now, well not at least for the next 10 years.
At least it's not so complicated in terms of my lo being able to hold an Australian passport.
Very true re toys. The other day Scarlett was sat in her bumbo and the remote fell off the sofa onto the floor, she reached for it and found it amazing. Hubby asked why was she playing with it and I said, well why not, she's interested in it (the tv was off so no annoying channel hopping, lol)
I'm attempting to make a cheesake this afternoon. I've some how made Thursday afternoons baking time. The title of the recipe cracked me up as it's titled 'better than s** cheescake' (don't know if that word is blocked on here so played it safe) :rotfl:Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -

lovely story CD!
Bangton hope you feel better today
the only time me & OH went out together on our own was to see our cat for the last time in hospital before he diedthat was an emergency when LO was 6 weeks old
hugs to everyone feeling the pinch of maternity pay & childcare!
OH says money is tight but refuses to do budgeting and meal planning still. He said no offence but its up to him to make ends meet now!!! he won't let me have a look at his wages. He says fresh homemade food costs a lot but then spends a tenner at ikea for rubbish meatballs! I've told him that I can only contribute a little so I'm just gonna put that towards the bills and let him buy all the food. I'll let him worry if it hits the fan!
I have spoken to a HV today about weaning and cutting down bfing. I'm still reluctant to stop feeding him every 2 hours. Now he's sleeping through he will have missed a few feeds in the night so I figure that he's cut down this way. He's currently having lunch and tea with BLW - it's an absolute mess requiring a complete clothes change most of the time. I'm going to try breakfast next week as LO and me will be booted out of bed when OH comes in for night shift at 7am. The thought of 3 meals and 2 snacks fills me with dread - the mess, the planning and the time it takes!0 -
Lovely article cd.
BeNice it is possible to limit the mess of BLW. We have a long sleeved cover all bib and if we do something like tomato pasta I'll spoon it. x0 -
Lovely article CD!
We used coverall bibs too bntm, and a cheapo shower curtain on the floor under the highchair. For snacks go for dry things to avoid the mess, or atleast cleanish things - breadsticks and houmous to dip etc, sliced up apple.
Hope everyone's ok, how are you doing today Bangton?
I'm having a good day, after a good few weeks of a miserable as sin teething little man he's back to himself again, plus two big back molars. Last few weeks have been tough, he doesn't have any other signs signs of teething, just a rotten temper. This afternoon he's been quite happy force feeding me toy food from his new kitchen and playing with his brio train setNewborn thread member

Oh and "fresh homemade food costs a lot"??!! Utter nonsense. Sorry, but it is! I made a yummy bean chilli in the slow cooker and worked it out at 47p a portion including rice and a bit of cheese on top :money:Newborn thread member

thanks for the tips
I find the sleeves on the bibs get in the way for LO eating. At the moment it's LO spilling water down himself that cause the most mess - hopefully it should get better as he gets the hang of drinking out of an open cup. He just doesn't get sippy cups either.
Katie I've only just started cooking big time so it might be that I'm cooking expensive stuff. I might try going veggie for some dishes to cut down costs and will look on these forums for advice when LO gives me time!0 -
Ello all,
Benice - I've just started cooking big time lol. This month I have made a meal planner off netmums. It helped to plan my shopping lost to only get things that we actually need, we seemed to be getting lots of things that wouldn't go together to make meals so I've found that it's helped. I've included a couple of veggie dishes and also lots of salads and soup meals.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Hi everyone. Much better today thanks
I don't know about anyone else but when I'm looking after my lo ( which is all the time! !) If I start flapping about something it's always worse because I don't have that thinking time where I can clear my head and move on!
Thank you for asking.
Benice .. Have you seen agirlcalledjack? My mum introduced me to her as she has the book and recently found out how much we spend on food. She makes dirt cheap recipes. Her story makes me sound dreadful moaning about money as she lived in real poverty after having her son. I've made one or two of her things and they've been really nice.
My OH is not much of a budgeter with food either! He buys a pack of deli meat for everyday of the week for his lunch/has shea butter for his toast and canadian maple syrup for his porridge! I rib him all the time but at the moment...GAH!! The maple syrups £6 alone! !
For a while I've felt our food shop is too much. We spend between £80 and £100 a week for three people. My son's milk and nappies are about £26 a week but this is coming down as he only really has a box of milk a week these days. . Or a tad over.
Is it cheeky to ask what everyone else spends? I can cope with this spend but the reality is it feels too much and I'd love to drop it down. I know my OH has his 'wild' purchases and I probably do too but we don't get them every week (bar the meat!)0 -
Bangton, we spend about £100 a week for the three of us  But I'm on a mission to cut that bill - for me, that's no more breakfasts from Pret, no more eating lunch out unless I have a very good reason to, and accepting that eating 'value' food isn't going to kill us. I even went to Tesco instead of Sainsbury's today
There are some things I won't compromise on, but I know I spend more than I need to.
Re. food planning - I've tried and failed more than once. I just can't know today what I'm going to want to eat on Tuesday!0
