Tory council leader believes ‘basic salary’ is 80k

He never talks of average or mean and he is talking about central London. Apart the odd way he says it, what he said is correct.0

In fact listening to his interview it's even worse! He says
so he's hardly talking about Bankers or Graduates, sound like McJobs to me!"first job" .... "basic simple job"
One thing a Tory councillor being out of touch, what else does one expect, but so many on a so called 'consumer forum' trying to get him out of jail is inexcusable!Fellow Westminster councillor David Boothroyd said it showed “the sections of society the council leadership is in touch with”.
“With everyone else, they’re not so much out of touch, as completely cut off,” Mr Boothroyd said0 -

I always thought that 'average' meant 'mean'.
If so there's no reason I can see to assume that there will be many more below the mean than above. The fact that the median is higher than the mean shows that there are more people above mean wage than below.
Probably best to assume you have been celebrating the new year a little too enthusiastically.
Happy new year0 -
My first, simple job in Central London paid £550 a day back in 1998. I was doing IT Support.0
-
But only 20% of people in central London earn over £52,8700
-
Should someone remind him of what the average wage actually is http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20442666.
Ps. I do quite a complex, responsible, job and earn a little more than this (but I am public sector so should be grateful for every penny :-) )
I'm also public sector & do a complex responsible job for minimal renumeration......
Anyway the problem in this country is, the average wage doesn't buy an average house, in most of the country, it doesn't buy any house:(0 -
