  • Mine kicked in around 6 weeks. It hasn't got any better but also hasn't got worse or progressed to actual sickness yet.

I haven't told my family yet. I also haven't told work but thought I would let my manager know if all goes well at my early scan next week as our Christmas do is the week after and I don't want them wondering why I am not drinking, especially as I have only just joined the team and have spoken about my love of prosecco.

We are thinking of announcing to family on our wedding anniversary, I will be 12 weeks exactly then, but I won't have officially had my scan, only the early one. So I won't go "public" until after that I imagine.

Thanks all, that's really helpful/reassuring to know. I'm sure it will kick in soon and then will be cursing it!

WJN - yeah I hope they will be nice too. Just had a look on my Dr's website and apparently I can self refer but still need to speak to them so will do that last this week. I've had to change Drs due to a house move so need to wait until I am properly registered which will be tomorrow I think.

Celpie - haha thanks! I will definitely remember that, thank you!

HopHop - that's interesting, thanks. I've been taking my folic acid first thing and I think that says to ideally take with food so will watch out to see if that has had an effect.
Ouch, bet speed bumps were really painful! Mine keep waking me up in the night, may have to start wearing a non-underwired bra at night I think.

Busy - in way it must be frustrating just to have the nausea and not actual sickness, no relief then I would imagine.
I think we will tell immediate family between 8-10 weeks and then everyone else after the scan. I want to hold off telling work for as long as I can - my current manager is not very nice but she is moving to a different team in Jan but we will be in a weird limbo period for a couple of months so not even sure who will be the best person to tell! Will have to play it by ear I think.
  • I don’t feel pregnant yet either, in fact I feel great! Im not tired and I don’t have any symptoms apart from being hungry all the time. I’ve felt sick a couple of times first thing in the morning but as soon as I eat something I’m fine.

After 4 more attempts today I have finally spoken to a midwife and got my first two appointments booked. My first is tomorrow! They seem to do things differently here, the first appointment is a group session where you’re given general advice about pregnancy then everyone has a quick chat with the midwife. My booking in appointment is earlier than I expected, it’s next week when I’ll be 7 weeks.

I don’t want to tell anyone at work including my manager yet but it’s really unusual for me to take time off for appointments and they’re much longer than a normal drs appointment would be. I’m convinced everyone will either guess or think there’s something seriously wrong with me!

Ooh that's good news Ginger, let us know how it goes! Interesting how things vary between location.

Glad to know it's not just me who doesn't 'feel' pregnant - I had heard all these stores about nausea being the first symptom and the reason why people suspect they are pregnant and was beginning to think that I was the weird one!
  • Me too! If my implantation bleeding a few weeks ago had been any heavier I would have assumed it was my period and carried on as normal. I would still have no idea!

I know! I literally thought my implantation bleeding was my period and so was drowning my sorrows - the night before I took the first test I drank half a bottle of champagne and ate a load of Brie. Oops!
  • I’ve had no sickness to yet. Stomach acid is a bit up and down but no sickness.

Theres a load of folk on made for mums on a massive forum with loads of folk per month too as that’s where I found out about the nub theory and stuff.
    :T:T :beer: :beer::beer::beer: to the lil one :) :beer::beer::beer:

My nausea started to kick in end of week 5 start of week 6 it was really bad in the evening but the last two night it’s seemed to have died off a little don’t know if that’s because I’m eating more as I had no appetite last week or what.

Had first appointment yesterday I’m being referred to a clinician because of my BMI and prescribed extra folic acid but tbh I have no other health issues so don’t think it’ll be much of an issue hopefully

Was relieved to hear no home visits till after the baby is born as we are hopefully having our kitchen, bathroom and windows done plus our housemate is moving out and I’ve got to air his room out from where he smoked so it can become the new spare room for my MIL when she visits. Can’t wait to see the back of him at last he’s been a nightmare the past few months and causing me so much stress I can’t take it any more

Hope the rest of you are ok xx

  • Well I spoke too soon about the nausea! It kicked in this morning but I felt better after I’d eaten something. I think I need to start having breakfast as soon as I wake up instead of waiting until I get to work.

I’ve just been to my group session, it didn’t last long and was just information about what we can eat, vitamins etc. Nothing really new but I got a lot of leaflets to have a look at. I then got to meet my midwife very briefly to do height, weight and blood pressure. She seems lovely.

Clicked on this thread by accident and started reading.....ladies if Christmas drinking is a problem, an infected tooth that requires antibiotics can be a very good excuse. If there are multiple drinks parties the infection can be very stubborn requiring more treatment. Take care all of you :D
