  • hope everyone's ok and that scans have all gone well

AFM - My mum and my friend have both started knitting for baby already, and friend's sis-in-law has said I can have all the stuff she's kept since she had her little boy 4 years ago, so we may be sorted for a cot and pram (just need a new mattress). MIL still has the rocking moses basket that she had for DH - will go and see what state that's in as its been in the loft over 40 years, but that might be another freebie if it just needs a clean (again, it'll need a new mattress).
That's a huge weight off my mind and a start towards a healthier looking budget for staying home with the baby

I also picked up a shimmery black maternity dress in the mothercare sale which will do me for an event I'm going to in early May; and got a couple of dresses and a top off facebook market place which will be good for when the weather finally heats up.

Nausea now coming in waves through the day rather than constantly, although I'm still being sick in the morning and sometimes in the afternoons too.

Still exhausted - I even had a lie down after breakfast this morning (before I was sick again), and a mini cat-nap at lunchtime. Only 90mins till I finish work today and then once I've picked up some cat food I can go home to bed. Booking appointment with the MW on Thursday so I don't need to get up too early then which might help the tiredness. Might see about working some shorter days next week if possible.

    It’s been a while!

So as a little update, and I need a bit of a rant so I thought here might help me get it out.

We had our first scan yesterday and all went very well. They have me at 13 weeks today. We then got home and started telling the family. Had lots of congratulations and were on a real high. We then had an offer put on our house we’ve been trying to sell since November and we came to an agreement on our house and on the house we wanted to buy! On a real high now!

Then we got an email AND text from the in laws telling us how our news was causing pain to my SIL who had an eptopic pregnancy 2 months ago and that we had to do something to make her feel better. Also, my BIL whose first baby in due right now was told the same!

Now I expected her to be upset by the news but new with a little time the news would get easier. We called her yesterday and told her our news and was sensitive to her feelings.

To now be told we and my BIL and SIL (whose 9 months pregnant) that we shud feel guilty as we’ve upset my SIL and it’s on us to make good just makes me angry, is that reasonable?

I don’t know if hormones, tho my husband is angry too and this vertically isn’t the first time we’ve been told to put ourselves out to make her happy to the detriment to our health.

My husband has been very grown up about it and send a message to his sister saying we understand are news would upset her and not to feel guilty about that as it’s perfcetly normal to be upset. But what more can we do? Completely ignore that we are pregnant? Not allowed to be excited? What can by BIL do at this very special time when he is days away from having his first child. Not be excited? Drive 4 hours to see his sister?

My husband is out with his father tonight so decided to meantion to him it’s not fair to make us feel guilty at this happy time for us and that his sister is over 30 and tho we’re here for us if she wamts to reach out, please don’t meddle in our happy time and they should help her during this time as well as all her friends and in laws. It’s not like we’re very close!
Is father just told him his feeling are invalid and he needs to grow up! His sister is a porcelain doll who we can never so or say anything that might upset her but my husbands gets told to grow up when he’s upset!

I know not many are on here anymore so probably won’t get much of a response but I need to rant and thought of here. I’m probably over reacting anyway!

    I’ll calm down soon.
  • Oh milly, I'm angry for you. I think you and your OH have done all you could reasonably do to be sensitive to your SIL - you told her individually and have been sensitive about her feelings and understanding that she may not be as pleased and excited for you as she would otherwise be.
You (and your BIL) are entitled to feel excited about your respective news. It sounds as though your in-laws are a bit (a lot) overprotective of SIL, but maybe let them all cool down a bit before you speak to them again - when your BIL's little one arrives I'm sure the distraction will help them come around.

Milly I am furious on your behalf. You have been sensitive to her feelings but that should in no way detract from your excitement. I think you and OH are being very calm and composed because I know I would have blown my top!!

I hope you're ok, and it hasn't put any sort of dampener on your happy time xx

Hi is it ok to join ? I got my positive test Friday and haven't booked to see doctor/midwife yet (will ring Monday and see what they say!). Last period was 3rd Feb so is that 5 weeks in medical terms?

I remember you too :) feeling fine, I honestly felt premenstrual and thought I was just having a weird cycle but better do a test just to rule it out since i was a bit late so it took me by surprise a little! I hadnt done opk abd we barely dtd all month due to both me and my husband feeling crappy. They do say it happens when you don't try though...
Just have sore breasts so far (which is normal premenstrual for me)

    Can i join please?

Got my bfp earlier this week so I make it out that I'm 4 weeks today. First appointment is 11th April for my booking in appointment with midwife.
  • Yay - congratulations Toots14; so nice to see ladies from the TTC board moving over here.

I'm not long for this board though. Got my dating scan on the 28th (should be slap in the middle of week 12 by LMP) - still feeling really sick a lot of the time and hoping it doesn't last much longer (I can go a whole day or more without being sick and start to think I'm over the worst and then it'll hit twice the next day :-(

Have ordered a giant bean bag for the office so I have somewhere to go for a lie down as I'm still really tired too (falling asleep sitting up at half 8 in the evenings now even with an afternoon nap) - I've threatened to build a nest in my little corner of the office for years, now I have an excuse!

Toots are you having any side effects yet? I still have sore breasts and am having mood swings, getting extra irritable and emotional. Not feeling sick yet but I'm not quite in week 6 yet so early days... I also think I'm very tired but I've made an attempt to drastically reduce my caffeine intake so it could be part that and part baby.
Booked an appointment with gp, i think it's midwife after that. It isn't for a little while though as I'm waiting till a day off the end of next week.
