Ratison - just delurking to say my midwife told me it's pretty unusual people decline them, however you are absolutely within your right too obviously. But she did say many people know they wouldn't do anything different, they just want to know. Very personal though so my advice is don't let anyone sway you - it's a choice for you two only.
Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 2017
  • Having been to the maternity clinic for booking in yesterday, I was quite surprised the amount of advertising! Branded folders to keep your stuff in, pregnancy magazine half information, half adverts, TV on the wall showing a few public health messages, but mostly adverts.....
  • Munchkin84 - we are really close - could be that you get there before me!
I hope you get a scan when your OH can be there.

Munchkin- my midwife allowed me to be really flexible about my scan date as I had some I couldn't do. Plus in my area they seem to like it to be in your 13th week so fingers crossed OH can come.

We did also have the screening. They did check for re-consent prior to doing it in the scan, and they said some people do change their mind at the point when they've seen their baby which I can completely understand. Thankfully ours came back as low risk, but like Newthrift we would have preferred to be prepared, but it is a very personal decision and you should go with what seems right for your family.
  • Hope you all had a lovely Christmas day, did anyone else share their news? We told my close family and they were all very happy. We started getting offers of handmedowns which is helpful too.

Most of family knew already (and OH's uncle had guessed as I'd shared on FB that I was finally off ADs. Very insightful of him!). 12 +2 and scan tomorrow- I've struggled being around so many people over the last day or two. But SIL has offered to hand on moses basket- it'll be its 7th or even 8th baby!

Scan tomorrow. Bit anxious about that
  • Family had no idea (which is lovely), but I think a few friends have guessed along the way. I am beginning to feel that my drinks are being watched for clues :undecided

Good luck for your scan tomorrow Arbrighton, may you graduate this thread with flying colours!

Thanks Cherry. I'm quite anxious now but at least manage a decent night's sleep, well apart from OH snoring like Darth Vader as he's coming down with a cold

Good luck arbrighton. Mine is Friday and the low level anxiety is constant! Coupled with a reduction in symptoms, I've got myself thinking the worst.

Well I should definitely graduate to 12-24 now
Moved forward from 12+3 to 13+1 at scan, NT measurement within range. Confirmed I will be having growth scans from 24 weeks thanks to a (miniscule) risk of problems associated with possibly having been exposed to the zika virus. Also a little frustrating that having come off antidepressants consultant said I needn't have. I'm fine with going back on them if I need to though.

Very very wiggly little bean that was doing a headstand to start with. Being 10 min after appt time was a challenge for the full bladder situation for sure!

I was nowhere near as emotional as I thought I was going to be.
