Hugs lulu, really hope this is a very Sticky bean for you0

Hope it's sticky for you Lulu.
Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Babyb - we had a private scan with my LB at about 8 weeks, as I had a MMC previously. I wanted one again this time (we can afford to), but my husband isn't sure it's necessary. I think I probably am being overly cautious, but I don't want to let myself get too excited until we know we're OK. I guess even if we have an early scan, there's no guarantees that everything will be fine. I've just got to get to that 12 week mark. Why does time go so slowly?!Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j

HI all, thanks for the best wishes.
I sort of regret the scan now.....the good thing - we saw a flicker of the heartbeat and it measured at 124bpm.
The rest - the scan started quite negatively with sonographer asking if we were sure about dates as she couldn't get a heartbeat - we were. She then told us it was measuring very small, before eventually finding the heartbeat.
She then looked at my ovaries (didn't know they did this) and found a cyst next to my right ovary which just looked to be fluid filled but then she also found a cyst inside my left ovary (my left ovary was 3 times bigger than my right) she spent twice as long looking at the ovaries as she did the baby (or the 5.5mm shape!). She then gave 1 picture of the baby and 15 of my ovaries and told me to see my GP. We left devastated and scared something was terribly wrong. She also told me I only had 5 follicles in my right ovary which Google tells me is v low.
Thankfully we had the midwife booking in app the next day. I broke down as soon as I entered the door. Midwife was great and told us not to worry - our measurements are 0.5mm out from where we should be - she said this was of no concern at all. She also said that lots of women have cysts, they can be hormonal and disappear from one scan to the next.
All in all, the scan gave me more worries than reassurance. And I am still aware of the fact that seeing a heartbeat a few days ago doesn't mean it'll be there is 5 weeks time and I can't realistically scan each week. I just need to find a way to calm down and let nature take its course.
Lulu - fingers crossed for you. Do you think you'll leave the scan this time?
Anyway the midwife app was just to decide which hospital to go to and now we have done that we will be told of our booking in date in the next 2 weeks. Apparently it is really difficult to get a scan date and could be anywhere up to the 16th week!!! I thought it would always be week 12!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
Hugs babyb, can't believe you may have to wait so long for a scan, you need it by a certain date so that you can have the tests if you decide to go for them0

Hugs babyb. At least your midwife could reassure you a little. I understand that the '12 week' scan has to be done before 13+6 weeks, or they can't get accurate readings for the Nuchal (?) test. One of my friends went for her 12 week scan, and was actually dated as 15+ weeks, so she needed to have additional tests. So I would've thought that they'd try to do your scan before 14 weeks at least, to try and avoid the extra tests.Married my wonderful husband 31st July 2011 :j

Sorry to hear the scan didn't got how you wanted it babyb. I hope the midwife managed to reassure you a bit, I know a couple of people that have had cysts on their ovaries without causing any problems to the pregnancy.
I'm still waiting for my scan date through, the midwife did say it will take a couple of weeks to be sent to me but I'm just too impatient :rotfl:0 -
Hugs lulu and babyb, it's such a stressful time
I had an early scan this time after delayed miscarriage last time, GP referred me to EPAU, so may be no need to pay privately. the MW that scanned me when I had my MC told me to ask for a referral after the point when the baby had stopped developing (5 weeks for me, though I didn't start to MC until 10 weeks) to give me some reassurance the same thing wasn't happening again. I did find it reassuring for a few days, but then worried constantly until our dating scan so I'm not sure it really helped that much
babyb - when we had our early scan the midwife said it was smaller than expected for my dates, but when I had my dating scan the date from that was bang on to my ovulation date, so try not to worry too much. They also looked at my ovaries at my early scan - apparently I'd ovulated from right ovary!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
babybJust popping back to say that when i had an early scan they told me i was 2 and a half weeks less than i knew i was, which worried me because i knew it was impossible. When i had the 12 week scan it was fine. I think theyre just so tiny at that stage that they cant get an accurate reading.
Also with dd or ds i was told i had a cyst, they wernt concerned though and it must have disappeared because no ones mentioned it since!
Hope everything works out ok for you tooStill here..... but working on that!0 -
Thanks for all the comments guys.
LittleMoog and Littleskintdragon - it is good to know that being a little small now doesn't necessarily mean we won't catch up!
Hope you are much calmer now you've had your dating scan, Littlemoog
As to our scan date - they said if we wanted to opt for the tests we would be guaranteed a scan between 11.5-14.5 weeks, but my OH doesn't want to have them. if you aren't having the tests you are at the back of the queue and apparently the waiting list is v long!
How's everyone else feeling? Any new symptoms? I have definitely noticed my sense of smell getting stronger and stronger!Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.100 -
I'm just tired, but that could be related to my one year old. But I did suffer with exhaustion when I was pregnant with her0
