  • Hello ladies! Hoping to join if I may?!? Just found out I'm pregnant and roughly worked out I'm about 6-7 weeks :-)

This pregnancy is already faring totally different than my first lol. I'm spotting a bit so far but didn't first time round so will be calling gp tomorrow to make sure everything is OK!

Hope you are all OK! I thankfully haven't had any sickness yet but I'm sure it will come was sick as a dog with my daughter 3 years ago, although would be nice if it stayed away lol xx

  • Urgh, first full day back to work since getting my bfp last month. I was worried about getting through the day with the tiredness. However what I hadn't considered was being an hour late due to near fainting in the shower , getting out whilst covered in bubbles and dry heaving, shivering and soaking wet. I honestly thought I was going to pass out, my hands were tingling and numb and I felt rotten. Luckily oh heard me, covered me with a towel and got a banana for me to nibble on and tucked me back in bed. Took about a half hour to feel better. Dunno if it was extreme hunger (but felt fine before getting in the shower) or MS?

Hope everyone is doing ok and managing getting back to the routine after the holidays x

That sounds awful fresh start, hope you're feeling much better now. I'm struggling with not feeling like my body is in my control a bit - felt dizzy in bed on Friday after I woke up, riddle me that one!

Called my doctor to get an app for sickness meds and the best they can do is late next week. I'm back in work and sticking it out for now. Good days and bad days, you know how it is! Only 9 days to go until the san (which we're both starting to get a bit anxious about), then hopefully I can tell everyone and have a good old moan about feeling rubbish

Hope you're all plodding on ok. Lovely to see loads of newbies. Feels like I've just joined this thread but I could potentially be graduating in 9 days...scary :lipsrseal

Hi Sharkeybaby, welcome to the thread - fingers crossed you won't have any sickness with this pregnancy.

Freshstart - I know what you mean. Have been feeling a bit rough myself over the last 7-10 days which is fine whilst I've been off but back to work today. Have been getting "most of the day nausea" but no sickness and I can't brush my tongue/back teeth without wretching.

I've found I'm also super hungry when the nausea hits and despite it being difficult to eat, nibbling on dry crackers is helping me. So far today I had tea and porridge first thing, 2 dry crackers and a banana to keep me going until lunch.

I've had quite a lot of light headed-ness and generally feeling rotten and have been actually shaking all over this morning through being cold although nobody else seems to be as cold as me (I'm normally a fairly warm person!) - odd!

Have got a scan tomorrow morning at the EPU - so worried given what we've been through in the last year.

  • Welcome to all newbies on the thread! :j ThinkPink, I'm not sure if you're still lurking but I'm so sorry to see your news. I hope you and OH are being kind to yourselves. xx

I've been somewhat AWOL as Hubby and I have been away visiting friends and family over Christmas/New Year. Our scan on the 22nd Dec was a resounding success - baby looking well and healthy at 8w 5d, which puts me at 10w 5d today. We told our immediate families over Christmas and they are so thrilled for us and have everything crossed that everything continues as it should do. We have already been given a travel cot and stair-gate from my aunt! Feels way too early to be having things like that...

Gelly, like you I've had nausea on and off all day, random gagging/wretching, but not actually being sick. I will be thinking of you tomorrow, really hope your scan goes well.

pm04gn, your scan pic is gorgeous!

Just updating my details on the list and bringing it back to the last page for newbies to update their details too... Apologies if there are any mistakes!

hi everyone, may i join please? we got our BFP at the weekend and I am 3+6 today. we are over the moon and this is number 2 :) i tend to be more a lurker tbh but will add my input where i can.

quick question, is anyone limiting 'carrying and lifting' of their toddlers if they already have a child? just that my parents are fussing and I'm not sure if i should or shouldn't be lifting my 3 year old? any thoughts? thanks ladies

De-lurking. Keza, my parents were driving me nuts with fussing about lifting my toddler too, she is 2 but a big / tall girl and it didn't help that we were on holiday with them so I couldn't even hide it much ! I google'd and the consensus seemed to be that at some point you won't really be able to lift them any more and until then you should be fine provided you are careful. I get my LO to jump up on a chair before I pick her up where possible so I don't have to get quite so low, or if we are going upstairs, pick her up from a few steps up again, so I don't have to lift so far. Once she's up it's a lot easier.

I'm 21 weeks now and it is getting harder but mainly because as my tummy is filling out my hip where she normally sits seems to be disappearing so she slides down all the time and my arms aren't strong enough to keep hold for too long ! (I hope that's the baby and not the Christmas chocolates). Hope this helps, Jane x
  • Good luck for your scan tomorrow Gelly.

We have now booked a private scan for 8 weeks, because I'm too impatient to wait. Also, it's already proving difficult keeping the news from DD (4.5), so we'd rather have had a check before she starts telling all the teachers and kids at school!

Keza I looked up about heavy lifting the other day after forgetting and lugging flat pack furniture around! This is taken from NHS website -

An increased risk of miscarriage is not linked to:
a mother’s emotional state during pregnancy, such as being stressed or depressed
having a shock or fright during pregnancy
exercise during pregnancy (but discuss with your GP or midwife what type of exercise is suitable for you during pregnancy)
    lifting or straining during pregnancy
    working during pregnancy
    having sex during pregnancy

Did anybody else find themselves crazy thirsty all the time in the early days? I developed a real thirst yesterday that hasn't gone away, but I don't remember having this with DD.

Thankfully all spotting i had have now stopped so i am trying not to worry i took another test today just incase (stressed out and it was still a BNP) booked in to see my doctor a week today then hopefully that will kickstart the booking in with the midwife etc

Still no sickness but agree im very very thirsty dont remember being like this with my first but im also starting to get very tired around 2-3 in the afternoon will have to start taking naps lol.

I have been trying not to lift my DD although it is hard as she is nearly 4 but still wants mummy cuddles etc aswell.
