eek! This is getting real, midwife mid jan at 8wks and 12wk scan booked on exactly 12weeks. Seems very far away- has anyone considered /done a private early scan? And if so how many weeks did you go?

A fresh start - heartbeat visible from around 6 weeks but you will just see a tiny blob. I'm going for one at 8 weeks. Should be something reasonable to see and evenly spaced between finding out I was pregnant and the 12 week scan. Miscarriage rates drops every week from 6 onwards but just remember the scan only tells you about that point in time so no guarantees.
Hope that helps, I used to do a bit of early pregnancy scanning so have a vague idea what I'm talking about!

Feeling rubbish this evening, bit sicky mild headache and very very tired. It's not at all glamorous this pregnancy buisness! I have now caved and started my ranitidine so hopefully I will be able to sleep better without feeling like I'm drowning in stomach acid.

Any one else feeling rubbish?

I had an early private scan,.it was reassuring to see the heartbeat, but I'm so hoping it hasn't given me false hope that all is ok. I had mine at what I thought was 8+9 but was actually dates back to 7+2. Will be interesting to see where I am placed.at my proper scan which technically I will be.13+3!!

Have.dentist tomorrow - luckily I have my nhs card through now as last time was just a routine check up and they allowed me not to pay but said I had to bring it next time- which unfortunately is tomorrow as I broke.a tooth today!!

I love rantidine.I'm on 300mg. I am also on Omeprozole and gaviscon advanced so i'm well drugged up!

I got my treatment free too and he said he doesn't want to see me for a year until after the baby is born! Probably coz there is nothing they can do any ways.

a fresh start - we had an early scan at around 7 weeks. As people have previously said, you can't really see much but you can see enough to reassure you massively if that makes sense! To me it looked like one of those little froglet things, with short stubby arm and leg buds and a tail! It was so funny to see it wiggling on the screen we also heard the heartbeat, which made me tear up just be prepared that because bub is so teeny tiny you may need an internal ultrasound instead. They tried doing it externally for me but it just wasn't picking much up, but when she did the internal one it was amazing! Luckily I've never been fussed by smear tests etc so I wasn't phased but I know some people don't like them so just be aware.

Thinkpink, pm & missymoo thanks for sharing your experience/knowledge. I think I'll book one for 8weeks as unfortunately Im one of those women who tense up and practically crawl backwards off the bed when the poor nurse is trying to do the smear test:o I get so worked up I tear up. Which is so stupid and mortifying. although I better suck it up and sort myself out as a smear test will be the least of my problems!

I had a mini freak out on the phone when calling to organise the midwife and the very first question after my name/ dob was where would I like to give birth x, y or at home. Said so matter of factly that I was in stunned silence, mind freaking out and my OH had to answer and I just repeated it! Eeek!

Aaaah thanks x_missymoo_x, that's very kind of you to remember me.

Here's hoping we're 3rd/4th time lucky with this pregnancy!

Just had a GP appt which was scheduled to discuss my blood results from the private consultation - but we gave her the news that I'm 4.5 weeks so still very early but she was pleased. She'd arranged for us to have an NHS consultation with the fertility team as we were struggling (although we didn't know she'd referred us otherwise we wouldn't have gone private - she had told us 2-3 months ago the NHS won't help us yet).

Private consultant wants me to have a scan at 6-6.5 weeks but GP has said we'll be taken back under the NHS care and will get a scan and consultant care with them so I'll need to get in touch with private consultant and thank her for all her help so far.

There's a lot of colds doing the rounds at work at the moment and I had that nose and throat tingle last night and am sneezy with a sore throat today - can only take paracetamol which is a shame as I swear by Sudafed when I've got a cold.

a fresh start - We've always had private scans at about 7-8 weeks but they have always been internal although thankfully, I've had so many now, I'm past caring and they are just one of those things. We've got the same EDD too :O) :j

I was dated at 7+2 at mine and this was done externally, it was clear enough to see what we needed to and the heartbeat was so clear it was amazing that something only just over 1cm could have such a strong Heartbeat.

Saw docs last night she didn't seem concerned about the brown spotting last week, she said its normal after a bleed at the beginning and everything was ok at the scan. Kind of reassuring but I know I will worry until the 12 week scan. Still unable to book a midwife appointment or get her to call me back so frustrating
