Can I join please? Anyone know what I need to do to join. After getting my first faint line on a FRER last Wednesday at 10 dpo...5 more tests later including a digi! I have finally decided that I must be pregnant! Absolutely terrified! Want the baby to be healthy so much. Anyone any tips on how not to worry? And tell me, is trapped wind and slightly dodgy poo a side effect of this pregnancy lark? Or do you reckon it's just my anxiety??

Trapped wind and everything intestinal was part of my sickness from 5 weeks ...
  • Welcome LisaJane! Tips on how not to worry - Mrs_T_M gave some fab advice a couple of pages back on keeping busy and making sure you sleep lots. I have certainly been trying to keep busy, but also taking time to sit & relax, and that does help take the mind off things. Oh, and the dodgy tummy? I have had that too! I suspect it's a combination of both pregnancy and the anxiety for me, so may the the same for you. :)

Rebekah, really sorry to hear you're struggling with the morning sickness - how are you doing today?

snapping, I am so sorry to see your news. *biggest of hugs* I am absolutely disgusted they won't see you sooner than Thursday! Is it worth ringing to see if they have a cancellation today/tomorrow?? Telling yourself it's happening for a reason certainly doesn't make it any easier in the slightest (been there, done that). PM me if you need a friendly ear/someone to vent to. Be kind to yourself, hon.

dingdongavoncalling, did you manage to get that scan? Or at least a date through?

AFM I survived the wedding this weekend and I think OH and I got away with it with him swapping my drinks and having items of food I couldn't eat. He tried to console me by saying the evening buffet's deli board was lousy, but everyone else's reactions told me quite the opposite!! Ah well. Thankfully we're not seeing family/friends now until Christmas, when we're thinking of announcing, so don't need to worry about hiding it so much.

I've got my consultant's appointment booked for the 26th January, when I'll be going on 14 weeks, which seems a lifetime away!! Slight TMI, but I am still having occasional brown spotting - generally after I've been moving around a lot (happened a lot this weekend) or if I've had a couple of niggly twingles (I assume the uterus stretching). It does worry me a bit, but at barely 6 weeks there's not a lot anyone can do regardless. I've got my booking in appointment with my midwife tomorrow, so I'll mention it to her then, or my specialist/bereavement midwife who is coming round today. I'm beginning to think this is just how my body does pregnancy. :/ I wish it wouldn't, it does nothing to help settle my anxiety that I'm just having a repeat performance of my last pregnancy. But wallowing will not help, I'm going to follow Mrs_T_M's fabulous advice and go and keep relatively busy.

Hi miss I. This is definitely tmi but I was scratching an itch last night and got a little bit of spotting. It totally freaked me out...but nothing more since so I am hopeful it is just the type of spotting lots of people get that is perfectly normal?? Especially as I would have my period now if it had have come. Knicker twitching like mad today checking there's no more and there hasn't been. Anyone have any experience of something similar? Tummy has lots of different mild twinges...finding it hard to distinguish between womb related/wind related/hungry related at the mo! Feel like a nervous wreck!!

  • LisaJane, it sounds like pretty normal spotting to me! You might have slightly broken the skin when you scratched too, but even if you didn't it really sounds like harmless spotting. If it helps relax you at all the general rule of thumb I go by is that if it's brown and isn't enough to transfer to a pad, then it's fine.

My specialist/bereavement midwife has not long left, she is very excited for me and OH. She's going to arrange an early scan for me in the week running up to Christmas so we can go home and announce to our families, with scan pics to match. Not only that but it's a long wait until the 12 week scan (probably mid January), so it's just that extra bit of reassurance for us too. She said I could have one sooner if I wanted, but I said it would probably just cause undue stress as it's probably too early to see a heartbeat anyway, which she agreed and said it was good to see I was being very rational about it all, but if I changed my mind to give her a call. I told her about my spotting and she said she's not unduly worried about it and that is is very common in pregnancy. Not exactly something the programmes tell you now, is it?! :p

  • Miss_I (and anyone else following!) After speaking to the midwife on Friday she said she would arrange an early scan but couldn't do it until Monday. I still haven't heard anything today so rang to chase it up, my midwife wasn't there but one of the other ladies searched through all my files and the scan requests and found nothing :( She must have forgotten about me! Luckily I'm not too worried as I have had a lot of sickness since so pretty sure everything's still ok (but the midwife didn't know that!) However, in a couple of weeks I have to travel a couple of hours for my dating scan (other medical needs) and don't want to make it any more traumatic that necessary, if I could just have an early scan locally first I think it would put my mind at rest. Sorry for the ramble! Hope you are all well, especially snapping - best of luck for tomorrow xxx
