There is definitely a baby and Baby has a lovely strong Heartbeat!! Was so Happy when she said she could see the heartbeat!! Baby was all snuggled in a corner but she said all looked ok, but she has estimated my due date as 10th July which puts me back just under 2 weeks, but she did say it may catch up a bit by my 12 week scan so that date could alter. I am so relieved. We told our parents, both sets are so happy.:D0

Urgh I have felt rotten this week
My moods are crazy, teary, irritable and a down anxious feeling at times - does anyone else get this? Not pleasant
My sense of smell is off the scale, everything stinks! Been pretty nauseous too. Off to see the midwife tomorrow, and also have a scan booked for 18th December - chuffed because that means if everything is good we can announce at Christmasxx

Oh hope you are feeling better soon. I have been feeling just generally a bit pants- a bit lightheaded, headachey, shaky and anxious, but I'm hoping that even though I know something can still go wrong, I know that for know little one has a heartbeat.
I've been waking up feeling dizzy and lightheaded, so I tried trying to sleep on my left side last night (had a little read on Google) as I usually sleep on my right side, not sure of it was just coincidence but I woke up today feeling better than I have done in a couple of weeks!!
I'm hoping we would have had our NHS 12 week scan by Christmas -technically according to the dates I should have it around 13th December, but as my midwife appointment isn't until 4th December I am not sure when it will be, but it should be before Christmas and then we can tell everyone else (will not be telling anyone else until I reach my 12 week scan).
Does anyone have any ideas how they will cover up for the fact they aren't drinking over Christmas? I am known to be a bit of a 'let my hair down and get a bit tipsy' kind of person, a few events I know I can easily just get away with volunteering to drive, but theres a few nights out that I am really not sure what to say!! One year over the new year period I had awful toothache that meant antibiotics that I couldn't drink on, so I'm debating using that excuse!! But if anyone else had any ideas I would appreciate them!!0 -

Thanks for your replyLuckily I'm not a big drinker so should manage to get away with it quite easily - just a thought, but if most your functions are with different groups of people - work, friends, family etc then you may be able to get away with the same excuse at each event? Even though I hardly drink I feel like people will suss me out because suddenly I have something to hide! Haha, good luck! x

Luckily, I think they are mostly with different people so hopefully should be able to get away with the same excuse so am thinking of going with something like toothache which has put me on antibiotics- because obviously the pain is so awful I don't want to drink and stop the antibiotics working and risk having toothache over Christmas again!!Do you think that will sound convincing though?
Lol, I'm the same, I can go through a period of time where I won't drink and don't think anything of it, but now I can't drink I feel like people will work it out!! Work do's I'm ok with as one I had volunteered to drive to before I even found out, but another one I may just go with 'I was running so late today I missed the train so thought I would just drive'!!
Also- why are most starters on Christmas menus things that pregnant people can't eat?? Like all menus seem to have prawns, pate and brie!!0 -
It's so nice to hear about all of your scans and that they are all good!
I finally had mine yesterday. However, baby Ring was doing a headstand and wouldn't turn around to a suitable position. I practically did a full gymnastics routine to try and get a bit of movement, full jazz hands at the end included, and baby still didn't move! We couldn't get the measurements for the nuchal testing, but CRL was measuring as 12+5.
It's a couple of days more than I had calculated so I'm very pleased all seems to be on track. I've got to go back on Wednesday at 12.30pm for attempt number 2.
Perfect scan date dingdongavon, that will be so lovely at Christmas. We were debating getting an early gender scan so we could reveal at Christmas, but at £80, for something we will have literally 2-3 weeks later, it seems a little silly. Your hormones should settle down soon and hopefully you won't feel so up and down all the time. It's horrible feeling like that but it does usually get better. Hugs to you sweet xx
Rebekah, I don't know what you mean. That sounds like me most days unless I have to be at work, haha. I just have no energy, thus no motivation, to do anything. I did manage some Christmas shopping in Norwich today though which has completely knackered me out. 3 months pregnant, on your own with a 15 month old who just wants to run around, while trying to do some shopping isn't the best combination.
Hmm, with regards to drinking over Christmas you could say that you'd like to buy your own drinks as you're watching the pennies - but this could lead to more people offering to buy for you.
You could say you had a late one last night and you're still feeling a bit hungover from that! Tonic water looks like G+T, the same as a coke looks like a vodka and coke. Nobody will know the difference.
Everyone knows if you say you're on antibiotics that you're basically pregnant. Alternatively, don't tell people you're not drinking. If you don't tell them, you don't give them any reason to suspect anything. After they've had a couple, they don't care what other people are doing!

Yes, I'm really pleased it will be before xmas, even though we won't be 12 weeks yet. I'm surprised, however, that they charge £3 per photo. I'm travelling to a different hospital for my scan for health reasons and I'm *sure* they don't charge at my local hospital because people always come with a huge strip of photos (6-8 pics!). Does anyone know if you can decide how many pictures you want AFTER the scan has taken place? We have to purchase vouchers and I don't want to purchase lots if the pics are rubbish! I'd rather save the money for something useful for baby
I like the idea of saying you had a heavy night the night before - throw people off completely!!0 -
Yes, thanks for that suggestion, I do like the idea of a heavy night the previous night- I think for me, my friends are more likely to believe that than most other excuses I can think of!!
I have no idea how much scan photos cost around here, or how paying for them works. It may be worth asking at your midwife appointment to see how it works and what most people do.
I picked up a pricelist today for the place we went and have already told oh that I think we will have to have another private scan as some point maybe around 30 weeks as a 20 week wait seems forever!! Luckily he seemed to agree (either that or he doesn't want to risk setting me off with my unpredictable hormones!! :rotfl:)
Glad the scan went ok Ringtobe, and in a way I bet its exciting that you get to see baby again next week- even though its because baby wasn't being cooperative!0 -

Pics are £5 each at our hospital! Although every time we have been the sonographer has always given us two and told us to pay for just one. The last time the machine was actually broken which was a shame
