Well, 13 months on from the birth of our first, and after 3 months of trying, the wife showed me a pregnancy test which confirmed that we are expecting our 2nd :D

Rather early days (~4w) so trying not to get too exciting as I know things can go wrong, but its the good news we were after. 2nd is planned but our "plan" was a little dashed after news of the wife's job being outsourced earlier than we had expected left us a little deflated and we were expecting to loose the really good maternity package that the company offered. None the less, it didn't stop us trying as things can always be worked out.

Our 1st was a bit of a bumpy road from early on. Lancs hospital trust screen for a "PAPP-A" marker during the first round of tests, and it was predicted with this marker that there was a high chance of loss/or pre-eclampsia. This scared the living c*** out of us and pre-eclampsia did start to show from around 25w along with gestational diabetes (although I still think that was mostly down to the wife eating 5 cakes covered in a lot of icing the night before her test!!), and enjoyment of the rest of the pregnancy was lost a little. It started to flare up and the day before she was set to go on mat leave, she was admitted to hospital and the decision was made whilst the pre-eclapsia was 'under control', to induce at 35w. After a very stressful delivery (stressful in terms of baby distressed, the wife passing out a few times and very high blood pressure which had me rather worried for both) but we all came out the other side a very happy family.

Hopefully this time around, we will enjoy this pregnancy more and be a little more relaxed, fingers crossed we don't get any of the complications that we had last time, and if we do then we know what we need to do to manage it!

SplanK great news on your wifes pregnancy, I hope evrything stays well for you both.

Afm my hcg was 202 and progesterone was down from 53 post ov to 38. I had my bloods taken again to see if my hcg has gone up and by how much, just waiting for the call back. Couldn't see anything on the scan as expected.I spoke to my fs who said not to get anymore bloods as there not really helpful as what will be will be,back to see her in 2 weeks for a scan.

Now worried if my hcg will rise by enough.

Thank god they just called my hcg went from 202 sat night to 426 this morning, they seemed pleased and it means the risk of ectopic is very small which I was really worried about.
