No buying unnecessary toiletries in January 2014

I've been reading this thread for the past couple of weeks and would like to join in if that's ok?
I have over 200 items to get through and seem to always be wanting more, I get bored of things after a while so find it really difficult to use stuff up. I have a few different shower gels, shampoos, conditioners etc etc on the go all the time so my bathroom is very cluttered and when my grandma came to my house over Christmas and commented on all the products I have in there, it really made me think! Anyway I'd say I have enough shower and bath stuff, shampoo and conditioner, body butters, hand creams, lip balms, perfumes and make up to last me well into this year if not into next year.
I seem to get obsessed with certain products, for eg Christmas 2012 it was perfume and I amassed enough to last me probably until the Christmas 2016. I will hunt for the perfect product until realising that I have 10 bottles of perfume and umpteen samples which I'll never possibly get through using only one or two squirts per day so I then go on a mad clearing spree and my sister usually reaps the benefit of these! I've got tonnes of makeup but I only ever wear a bit of foundation and mascara unless I'm going out which is rare. I just like 'having' stuff which seems really stupid if it's costing me money and is never going to get used, so in a bid to try and whittle down my stash and cut back on my spending a bit I'll be hanging around this thread, hope that's ok with everyone
Welcome, I hope that you have gathered that we are a friendly and supportive bunch around here. Nearly all of us have too much stuff:o, but for many people much less than we started off with:j
One of the things that helped me most was to gather all like products together, so I have a drawer with bath/shower and body products, one with hair stuff etc. I frequently have a look through and it helps me remember what I have and lessens the temptation to acquire more.
Some people also have a savings fund for something really nice and special, often non-toiletry related, an i-pad, a weekend away, money towards a holiday and when tempted to buy yet another item that we already have a year's worth of:o, put the money away instead:D
Whichever way you try to work through the stash we will be here to cheer or commiserate. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -

Oops I'm rubbish!
I know I've not officially started but I've purchased pound shop 'bargains' today Gem spa jasmine hand cream, a t-zone spot zapping gel and Pantene intense colour seal conditioner.
I was in boots picking up my 'free from points' .com order and was tempted to look at the no 7 as still have a few vouchers but the shop had gotten really busy by the time I was served with my order so didn't lookNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Welcome to all new people.
UU
50g Champneys energising lime body souffle - WNBA this was OK but I prefer other moisturisers.
I was good in Superdrug on Friday - I looked but put back the numerous 'clearance' body lotions - I would normally have bought these because they were a bargain whilst leaving my favourite ones that I enjoy using to languish and fester in the cupboard. No more buying toiletries0 -
It was 2009 they closed down, start of or thats when the Leeds store went... it was my favourite shop smelt sooo good, and was so sparkley and pretty! I loved the fact their eyeshadows were in little sequin tins. I was a poor student though and only ever bought 1 or 2 things, but it was such good quality too. I miss them
Shame they didn't have more stores I only discovered them by accident once I was in Leeds.

I have a few of the shiny tins. Not sure if they still have much product in, but they are sooo pretty! :rotfl:Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

Well it's been a pretty successful January, I now have exactly negated all my INs from last year. On an even footing, and definitely not in need of anything for a while.
I can't believe it's not the end of January yet - I'm desperate for the new thread, and already trying to think of my PP list! I won't get through anything else this month.0 -
So close... and yet another IN (2 actually) for January.
- Superdrug Raspberry & Macademia conditioner. Annoyed as website said they were on 1/2price but in store it was buy one get one half price on all SD branded products.
- Superdrug Red colour conditioner - only 25p due to the offer but didn't really need this as I think colour protect shampoo is generally sufficient.
Got another SD conditioner (apple & tea tree) on it's way out though, and have been using it as shaving gel to save having to buy yet another product!New graduate trying to get debt-free.

Afternoon. I'm finished work until the last week of February and so have got to get my act together because we go on vacation on Wednesday morning.
So, I think I'll just take a palette/travel box for makeup. Unfortunately, Air Frances' Duty Free store on line is strongly tempting me with a Givenchy travel set that may have to find it's way home with me.
I haven't gone on a "real" three week holiday in years. It's different when you go to visit family because you use their washer and don't have to really figure out what to wear.
I'm nearly finished a body scrub, so hopefully, I'll be able to list it before we leave.
I don't get the Benefit love either. I think it's the packaging that does it. Sort of like when TooFaced did the palettes to look like cheezy romance novels from the 1950s. Very pretty to look at but the products aren't always the best. The Balm has some very pretty retro packaging but I've been strong.
Welcome new people, we don't bite.0 -
It's me checking in at crazy o'clock as usual.
Finally a UU from my PP list - M&S honey hand cream that I got for 50p at their final clearance. Really liked this even though I had been putting it off for ages. Kicks Liz Earls hand cream b*tt!
Over at my bf's my Balance Me hand cream is nearly a goner too:)
Not that I don't have one or two to replace it.
Finally managed out for a small bit of sale shopping. Still shuffling about with my back ( but not in a LMFAO fun way). I did pick up a gift set of Davidoff Cool Water Woman 30mls with shower cream and body lotion for £10. Really chuffed as my own one is spluttering.
I really like the favourite product list thread and will get time to add my thoughts. No buying toiletries Graduated May 2017Decluttered 2016 2469 items, 2017 1580 items :j2018 3060 itemsSealed Pot Challenge No 0380
