It is a cat tree I am after not cat scratching post :)

Will have a go and get some rope and try to fix it.

Shelves are almost fine - can stay as they are without re-covering.

The current rope is winded round and then stapled on top/botom, may look for someone with a staple gun :)

If not, what glue would be good and more importand harmless to cats?

    Thanks

Sisal on ebay is much cheaper than DIY sheds. I bought a new scratching post for our cat and put it upstairs on the landing where she had her old post. I fetched the old post downstairs to get rid of, and she went crazy for the old post and won't touch the new one. I tried taking the old one and putting it in the garage as though it had gone and when she started scratching the stairs (something she had never done before) had to bring it back in. So £5 spent on sisal, I wish I'd considered this before buying the new post - which will now be going to the local cat rescue (brand new- never used!)

GR, I have a good staple gun that you are welcome to borrow some time.
BUT....you will need a surprisingly large amount of sisal to recover the posts and it is not all that cheap to buy even on ebay.

Just bought 50m of sisal for £21 with free posting from ebay. Making a 1m 70 cm climbing post for Rufus.
Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

I just got 25ft of 8mm sisal for £4.50 inc postage. Admittedly this was for a much smaller post, but less than a quarter of the price of the replacement post.

We have exactly that same tree and got it on ebay. It was £30 which wasn't much dearer than replacing the rope. I'll try and find the name of the company, but it was ages ago.

The company does not exist any more - I looked up, based on the small label on the bottom of the tree :(

Mine is about 3 years old now..
  • We have a Maine Coon, so I get the need for big-cat-friendly stuff! Just finding a big enough litter tray was a challenge...

Ours doesn't have a "tower" per se - we built her "Kitty Towers" which lives in the garden and looks like this:

We're thinking of adding felt to the roof (like you'd have on a shed) when the weather's better.

Our breeder uses and recommends Tigga Towers - they are pricey, but exceptionally well made. You can design your own, too. But personally, I'd team up with the husband and come up with our own so we get just what we want. Power tools are fun!
