You could use a drill, then sandpaper.
If you want an actual cat tree, I'd recommend a big one that is about a metre tall (if not taller!).0 -
You could just buy the replacement 'legs' if the shelves are still ok, that's what I did with my last one.
You can get various sizes: http://www.dabners.co.uk/products/390/1/cat-scratching-post-spares/

GR - sorry I hadn't picked up on all the shelves from the 1st pic
New posts is a good idea - the only thing I'd be worried about is the size.
I have 4 (normal) scratching posts here & took a chance and got a replacement post only from E*bay (99p:money:) - it's great BUT there was only 1 out of the 4 bases / screws that it would fit so they do unfortunately come in different sizesGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250

Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -

Pretty close
Thanks for that xx
I started thinking of re-covering my current one now... hmmm it is very stable, not wobbly, perfaps just the "string" to cover the poles with???0 -
^ If your own is o.k structurally then I'd do that too. Get some new thick string and once you've done that you could get some carpet off cuts and do the shelves. I cant see it being difficult taking the old off and glueing the new down.
B and Q should have thick string, if not ebay will.0 -
We made ordinary cat scratching posts for our cats. Off cuts of carpets nailed over the base. Sisal rope bought on ebay wrapped round a pole and screwed to the base. A quick spry of cat nip to get the cats interested and used constantly.0

you can get hole cutters of various sizes that go on a drill

It is a cat tree I am after not cat scratching post
Will have a go and get some rope and try to fix it.
Shelves are almost fine - can stay as they are without re-covering.
The current rope is winded round and then stapled on top/botom, may look for someone with a staple gun
If not, what glue would be good and more importand harmless to cats?
Thanks0 -
