I know the feeling well!!
Finding myself in a similar situation, I decided to live out of my stockpile until it is all used up, allocating only £15pw for fresh stuff.....I did start it as a thread but it was merged with the storecupboard challenge thread and that thread is sooooo huge it's disheartening to look through!!!
I've been doing this since 21st December 2013 and I am pleased to report that I have not purchased anything other than three loads of milk since the start!!:j
Good luck with it....it's incredibly liberating not having to constantly go to the shops!!:D

I have been working through the stash in my cupboards and I have fixed a label to each item with the price on it. It now makes me look at the stash of food as a monetary amount rather than a tin of beans etc. I can now see where I have wasted money by buying things that we will use "one day" That day never gets here and it ends up been thrown away when it is out of date

One of the many reasons why I stock pile and keep a good stock of food, I hate shopping!Piglet

Don't feel bad, I would say that list is perfectly normal!
If I were you I would get rid of the packet stuff first.0 -
Could you mix and match throughout the week - something like:
Mon - pasta day
Tues - freezer day
Weds - rice day
Thurs - potato day
Fri - new recipe day (btw, love that idea and am going to steal it)
I'm up to my eyeballs in jam, so if anyone has any ideas what to do with that I'd be grateful.....can't eat gluten so toast is out of the question!0 -
So far I've only topped up the milk and fruit oh and a us loaf for 20p. So in total spent 5.73
We have eaten the cod ready meal, 1 focacia bread, 4 jacket potatoes, 1 can of beans, 2 cans of Toronto soup, 2 of the baguettes and the 2 pizzas. Tonight we are having chicken pie and carrots for dinner. I'm out tomorrow so hubby Will have one of the ready Chinese / Thai meals for his dinner.
Think for Sunday I'm going to do a Sunday lunch using some of the chicken breasts and make a lasagne put in fridge to reheat on Monday night after work. Hubby has taken sandwiches to work with leftover Christmas crisps and grapes for past 3 days. I just need to sure we keep this up next week when we are all back at work properly.
Glad more of you hoarders feel liberated as well as me.0 -
I've been lurking with interest here, as the list on the first page seemed somewhat familiar...
Although really I'm not that embarrassed, as provided I don't end up throwing things out, I'm content to have a good stash of supplies in case it's needed. I grew up in a very isolated place so I think I am more comfortable with a store cupboard, even though I'm now within walking distance of lots of shops.
Having said that, I have given myself a challenge for January, which is to see how little I can buy this month, and that only fresh. Otherwise, we'll be living off our stash. Nothing spent yet, but then it is only the 3rd.I am wondering if I can keep it down to £15 a week. I'm not entirely sure yet if it is possible, as I'm coeliac and lactose intolerant, meaning my milk, cheese and bread is a bit more expensive than normal, and sadly never bears a coveted yellow sticker.
So far next week's list contains only satsumas, salad leaves, eggs and mushrooms, so we could be on a goer. I did my first ever meal plan this week, and have pretty much stuck to it. This is *way* more self-disciplined than I would usually manage, which is brilliant. Thanks for the inspiration!

Depends on what type of jam you have but you can 're-liquify' it and use it as a cooking sauce or a glaze for meats....I have used apricot for pork and chicken, raspberry and strawberry go great on chicken or beef, blackcurrant is great with duck or venison and ginger is amazing as a 'stir-fry' sauce!!Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Nom! Brilliant idea, which I will definitely steal. I have some rather meh grilled frozen veg and a tin of water chestnuts, so I feel a chicken & ginger stir fry coming on in next week's meal plan.0 -
Use it to top hm rice pudding? Sweet omelettes spread with jam? hm egg custard topped with jam.Little_Vics wrote: »Could you mix and match throughout the week - something like:
