Hi inod - good to see you posting again. Daniel Blake sounds rather upsetting. You don't realise how lucky you are when you have your family, health, home and decent job.
DD wants me to go and see 'Nocturnal Animals' with her next time she is in London. The reviews have been excellent -and with Tom Ford directing should be a stylish treat for the eyes! Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Made it to Saturday yay and was treated to breakfast in bed by my OH. There is little that beats a toasted cheese soda and a mug of tea. It's a dry bright day here so I'm gonna pull on the track suit bottoms, find some gardening gloves and start to tackle the overgrown flower bed out the front. It's long overdue but my free time rarely coincides with the right weather conditions. Will just grab a cuppa first then out I go.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st10lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Hope you made some headway in the garden. Ours was a jungle (and getting looks from the residents association!) but OH cleared most of it a few weeks ago. I used to be really into gardening but have lost all of my motivation for it of late.
Glad to hear how well you're doing with the jogging club - even if you're behind, you're ahead of me! Since 5 weeks of antibiotics I'm exhausted just doing the school run!Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Went to the cinema to see I Daniel Blake last night. While some of it was exaggerated, the lesson is there for all. The welfare state will no longer automatically provide.
Hi INOD
I was interested to read this, and wondered if you could share a little about how the movie is exaggerated. As you know, I went to see it and it really upset me. If some of it is not true/not possible, I'd love to know about it. I think you're right about the message that automatic provision is not happening anymore.
Hope all is good with you.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -

You lot know me too well. The gardening didn't really happen. I went into the garage to get some tools and got distracted. On the plus side, 4 items went to the dump, I realised that we didn't need the paint that I was intending to buy and dd and I treated ourselves to coffee and cake in a garden centre.
We got a call from my sis who was due to take my mum to church this evening. Her father in law wasn't well and she was heading to the hospital with her husband so I did the church run and then picked her up to take her home. She wanted a trip to the chippy so bought tea for us as well.
Today I'm grateful for
Being able to use paint that's in the house

Hi ani*fan. Exaggerations in the movie related to the lack of staff flexibility and intransigence of the processes. No one mentioned hardship or social services and having undertaken social security work for three years, I found it odd that there was no mention of elected representatives, advice centres, complaints processes, etc. at the time I did the work, I was 19, married with two small children and a husband in temporary or no work. We were living hand to mouth as much as the claimants. The same was true of others so staff aren't automatons or plain dismissive of people. People rarely come to work to be nasty but that didn't come across. Also, there were a few instances when the main character was being escorted from premises where he was touched by staff, an absolute no no.
Though, like I've said, I do agree with the overall message esp when you see talk of separating pension increases from cost of living. I started paying NI contributions at the age of 19 with the promise of a state pension at 60 provided all necessary years were covered. Now I need to be 67 to collect. If a private pension firm moved the goal posts in that way, we could appeal to the statutory body, the pension regulator but government mismanagement of finance has resulted in this hit with nowhere to make an appeal or require an investigation. Here endeth that rant!
Last night, dd had some friends staying over so we were treated to bacon and mushroom sandwiches for breakfast along with a decent sized mug of tea. Plans today inc a present match, matching items purchased with those for whom gifts are needed and using up aging veg in a soup. Plus laundry, etc. etc. and a sit down for the final episode of poldark.
Hope everyone has a Sunday that sets them up for the coming work week.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 11st10lb determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
