I set myself a budget for January, but didn't get around to logging into the site to track down the thread after a 9 months absence!

Last night I made myself sit down and put all my January spends into my spreadsheet, so now I also know how I did against my budget....

and I came well within :T

Budget this year is based on
    Annual for me : 365 days @ £5/day = £1825
    Annual for DS1 : 7 meals a fortnight @ £3/meal = £546 / year
Annual milk for DS1 : 2 x 4pt/week @ £1.50 for 4 pints (I can get cheaper, but this way I'm not out of pocket in an emergency) = £156
    Annual for OH : 52 Saturdays and 2 out of 3 Sundays @ £4/day = 87 x £4 = £348 year
    Total = £2875

    For a 31 day month this makes my official budget £244.18 (£2875 / 365 * 31)
But I'm hoping to spend no more than two-thirds of my monthly budgets (at least in the early months) as I have heaps of stuff in the house needs using up!! So ideally I was looking at spending no more than £165
And, despite bulk buying pork steaks, chicken breast fillets and tinned tomatoes (plus buying several 'naughty but I want' bits), I've managed to get through January spending just £133.31 :T

Just crunched my numbers in detail, and my spends split up as

    Total : £133.31 (100%)
    Fruit : 68p (0.51%)
Veg : £41.20 (30.91%) - just when did it become soooo expensive to ensure you get at least 5 a day?
    (F&V combined = £41.88 / 31.42%)
Junk (cakes, puddings, ice cream, sweets, biscuits etc.) : £19.61 (14.71%) - definitely a big  for this month!
Milk (only fresh for DS1 this month, as I have loads of long life soya in the house at the moment) : £6.69 (5.02%)
Protein (meat, fish, cheese, eggs, veggie burgers) : £47.55 (35.67%)
Everything else (yoghurt, pasta, sauces, bread etc.) : £17.58 (13.19%)

Last day of January - yeh! Think I'm safe enough to declare as I'd only be going out with a 3 yr old in tow in this weather in a dire emergency.

So £187.87/£200 which means that for the first time in my GC history I have come in under budget :j:j:j with £12.13 left over.

See you all over on Feb board ....
