DH and I had a chat about the food spends this month and agreed we could probably do even better next month. It is great to have him on board with this.:)

I have done some number crunching and if we save and save we could buy our dream house in a couple of years. DH is really excited about it so hopefully it will keep us both focussed on reducing our costs. I will of course have to get a new job ;-)

I am going to extend the end of my month until the end of this week as I am going to Aldee tonight but as DH will be cooking on Saturday we may need a couple of ingredients.

Anzac - hugs to you. I am in the same boat, made redundant 2 weeks ago, due to leave work early May and saving like crazy.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%

    What about a snazzy trolley?

Another vote for a trolly, wouldn't be without mine, its a four wheeler push one though as cant manage pull a long due to arthy
    hands.

Its great I just pop a basket on top and trundle along.

Sorting through the out of date tins I was given, had to throw out 6 cans baked beans as the tins popped when pressed. Date was 2011.

Interesting article here for anyone wanting to know how out of date you can use them.

and now I have finished work manage the shopping with DH taking me for a monthly big shop to Mr T, then I shop locally on a weekly basis -A*di, H BAgs etc and it all goes in my trolley. I sometimes overdo it though - it can suddenly get heavy without you realising it!!! It is also better now I have worked out how to hang it onto the hook on a s/m shopping trolley too as I used to be lethal getting people's legs!!!:rotfl::o.

Small spend 1.97 on milk and butter stuff yesteday. Sig updated.

I will have to look into these although have seen a nice snazzy one on amazon for £25
Think I may have to do a bit of scouting in my local lidl to see if its worth shopping there and had just heard that a morrisons local has just opened a few doors down from the lidl too.
That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

£8.59 in Lidl this morning, I think maybe my total was a bit optimistic as I only have around £30 left to last the month. Still I have included coffees and lunches out in my total so I think that it's still quite an achievement :)
  • also check out charity shops for shopping trollies.
