    Happy New Year everyone

Stayed up very late last night, and slept all morning :D

Not much flying today - got to obey New Year traditions as follows:

No throwing anything out on NY day - you'll throw the new year's luck out with it

No doing laundry - you'll wash the NY luck away

Eat a big plate of home made soup as soon as you open your eyes - probably the only source of vegetables in NY day diet

Eat steak pie for dinner - pie should be big enough to feed the whole family and any unexpected visitors for two days

2nd Jan - repeat the soup and pie consumption. Laundry and chucking out rubbish now safe to do.

Amazing how following the rules keeps life simple today :rotfl:

    Have a great 2014 everyone.

Thank you all for your really kind words, I can't really talk to anyone about my OCD problem, I think thats why I feel ashamed because I keep it a secret.

But I'm feeling positive and I will give the GP a call tomorrow and book an appointment.

I've had 2 x 12 sessions of CBT! I get a bit better for a while then my inner strength goes :( No i'm not on any meds, but maybe I should be!
    xx

I am a fellow OCD sufferer myself. I eventually opened up to close family and friends about it and I was suprised at how many people did similar thimgs to me. They made me feel I shouldn't be ashamed.

I have a very supportive doctor who was great, I have been put on a very low dose of a particular medicine and it has thorougly changed my life, the symptoms just reduced on their own so much.

Try to talk to people you trust and find a good doctor who really understands, if you don't get on with him/her, try another, you will get there!

    Hi all,

Bit of a strange day in our house - we got home from last nights festivities at around 2am and I was up at 7 to get DS up for his paper round (when Do boys actually get up of their own accord??) It was heaving it down so I offered to help him with the papers. That involved a 2 mile walk for me which I really enjoyed. It has made me realise that I need to start early morning running again as its the only time I feel free and unencumbered by the carp of everyday life. :o

Anyway, from the early start, the day has sort of slipped away from me. I have:

made piles of washing to be put away
started some accounts work that needs to be done by the end of Jan
    done loads of filing
sneaked away some window decs (DC have NOT given permission to take them down yet), and cleaned the window. I am ashamed to say that the upvc was absolutely filthy. The more I wiped the more dirt I saw:eek:. Feeling virtuous now as there is a small clean corner in that room now.

    Wednesday - New Year's Day
Just some bits and pieces for those in the mood, if not have the day off ready to start tomorrow. Remember to spend sometime with family/friends if you like that sort of thing.

Update calendar/diary with all those important dates will do this tomorrow as it needs doing urgently
Write a New Toots List (this is a list of all the jobs you want to get done from decorate a room, hang a picture etc) - burn or bin your old one (you can have a sneaky compare if you like). Now go through and put the month in which you are going to do the tasks next to them. We tend to over estimate how much we will achieve in the short term and under estimate what we can achieve in the longer term.
Great idea - I'll work on this

    BabyC welcome

Polly I so want to get out for a walk but the weather is awful

Poor effort here but it is a BH and I did sleep dreadfully

Dinner nearly done. DH has put out our recycling and NDN, just neighbour across the road to do when I feed their mogs in a bit.

I'll update the ironing Challenge and list a bit later.

    Happy New Year!

DS2 and DD were out last night, and I didn't sleep well until I knew they were both home, so a little tired this morning! DS1 is with GF in Madrid, and texted New Year wishes at 11pm, telling me he had done the 12 grapes on the clock strikes! I'd asked him to let me know if it really was custom or just something In the textbooks.

It has been extremely windy and rainy here, so not at all tempted to go out. Not feeling very energetic either, but set timer for 15 mins and decluttered a couple of shelves in kitchen, and have also tided the living room, and vacuumed downstairs too. I now have a pile of books and magazines for freegle/charity shop next week.

A special thanks to valli for the tip about covering the top of kitchen cupboards with newspaper, which has saved hours of dusting!

So... great start to the year

OH cleaned all of the windows outside this morning (even the upstairs ones) for the first time ever!!

I made roast beef dinner with the trimmings
Took the decs off the tree and put it out in the chicken pen for them to play with for a day or two
    S&S toilets and bathroom
Ironing off the airer and into cupboards/drawers
    Hoovered all of downstairs
Important dates put into my new diary
New diary cover ordered for work

Not too shabby for a bank holiday!

It really is a custom! Loads of people gather by the Tio Pepe sign/by the Bear & the Strawberry Tree and eat 12 grapes. Hope he ended the evening with an early morning chocolate con churros at San Gines! Madrid is my all time fave place :-)

Managed to declutter the top of the stairs - they look so clear. Decluttered approx 1k emails (was about to declare email bankruptcy!), have S&S'd kitchen, I will write my blog in a while (with a freebie knitting pattern, hopefully) so the only thing left on today's list is the hoovering, but tbh I won't be doing that now - it'll keep until tomorrow. Will cosy up in front of the fire with my mac, coffee then a good book before bed. All this flying has left me pooped, and I need to be up early doors tomorrow.

Hi, another newbie here, I lurked a couple of years ago, but never plucked up the courage to say hi then, but I have now.
Looking around the house After the Christmas visitors have left and it looks like a scene of devastation.i have to admit though, it's not their fault!

I work full time and have been working everyday since before Christmas, and no end in sight At the moment for the busyness at work to slow down. So on my first evening off in a while I thought I would say hi and gently ease myself in to flying. I have just moved in with my OH and he has a cleaner who I don't think is very good and she seems to break things, eventually I would like us to get into a routine where we can do without help ( or I can get my mum's cleaner to come round).

Update calendar/diary with all those important dates i need to get one

Back up photos from phone/laptop etc, enjoy looking over some
Put away any glasses used last night
Hoover any areas in dire need just looking at the Hoover now and some mud on the floor
S&S toilets and sinks if required

Write a New Toots List (this is a list of all the jobs you want to get done from decorate a room, hang a picture etc) - burn or bin your old one (you can have a sneaky compare if you like). I have a list book but I never seem motivated to complete many things as they seem big so I think once my toots list is done my to do list each week will have a bite sized bit until one is complete .
    Thank you for your inspirAtion.

    Evening all!

I have had an email containing the photo of what we believe to be my Grandfather's grave in Cassino War Cemetery, Italy! I can't quite believe that after 70 years of 'no known grave', we are so close to formal recognition! I just hope the CWGC accept the evidence and agree!

Can't get the photo to show on here - used to just copy and paste from FB but it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Anyway, flying has been minimal, watching tv and lazing on the sofa has been done! About to clean out smelly ratties whilst watching Sherlock.

    Welcome to all newbies.

    Happy New Year all x
