My children (both aged under ten) were given a huge tub of Celebrations. *EACH*. Even one between them would have been an embarrassment of chocolate but one each? Aaargh.

I'm torn between forcing it all down them as quickly as possible, and making them eat it in very small doses. (I ate far too much chocolate as a child and suffer badly with my teeth now, and I am determined that history will not be repeated.)

Keep one for next year, we currently have two tins of roses residing in the cupboard for next year, one I bought, one my DM bought us...we're only just finishing the QS left from last year :rotfl:

I think thats ok, not as garish as I thought it would be from the description, but having said that, Id rather have had stuff from Lush. (I got stuff from Lush, sorry you didnt get what you had hoped for).

I just remarked to my OH that I didn't get any smellies this year, dropped a big hint a set from lush is to be put on next years list ;)

This thread had made me really laugh out loud, esp the demonic kittens (I have a cat too incidentally but people have been politely advised that just because i have a cat, does not mean I want all things cat related). I do try to buy gifts for people I think they would like and any that people would post on here were bought with the best intentions.

Confession time from me, last year we received what was actually a very nice reed diffuser....unfortunately it was just after a conversation with DM (she didn't give it to us btw) about how I can't stand the things as I find they gather dust, and probably a mountain of cat fur from aforementioned mog who brushes against everything. It has now moved onto a better home :o

I'd happily have "lost" one but for the fact that OH, knowing the giver, brought the wrapped gifts into the kitchen to check- it was immediately obvious from the shape what they were, and how many, so we were then unable to reduce the impact at all! I'd have happily checked them once the children were in bed and everything would have been ok.....
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.

Whoops, perhaps you could persuade the kids it would be a nice idea to give some choc to a food bank and share with those not as fortunate as they are....although that deff depends on the kids. Or else prime OH for any future reoccurrence....

kerri - that's a wonderful idea; would they take that sort of thing? I have a lot of christmas chocolate I can't eat and that would be a great way to pass them on to someone that might enjoy them.

(Normally I just keep them for a bit then put them in the common room at work.)

If any of them are Thorntons 'Continental' chocolates - pass them on to me! I am not normally a choc lover, but LOVE those! they last me ages too as I only have one or two now and again with a cup of coffee.
couldn't you 'donate' them to a care home? I bet that would be welcome new year gift?

A few years ago our neighbour and the neighbour two doors away both gave us wrapped presents. One was on Christmas Eve morning and one a couple of days before. What they both forgot to tell us was it was a present with cheese involved! Both went in the bin.

My Mum manages to give some awful presents, she did quite well this year and only two of them will be getting passed on!
  • My husband once bought me a lady shave. It was either or first or second Christmas together, not sure, but if it was our first, we'd only been together two months!

I wasn't offended at the time, he got enough ribbing off his mates! Looking back though, I'm offended now! :rotfl:
  • Thank you so much for the laughs on new year's eve:) You have had me crying x x :A I have been very fortunate this year :j however in the past my DD said that she liked cows! Guess what, she got them every birthday and Christmas the pot one's which are awful! They went on ebay.

I have an Aunty who used to always buy us sticker books of flags of the world, or capital cities, we never rushed to open them.

I think there should be a vote for the worst gift this year. My vote world go to the shared mug and gloves. Bless you all for your contributions xxx
