  • These sorts of mistakes do happen, my dad's account had £20,000 randomly appear in it once! Regardless of his current financial circumstances, he just reported it and it was sorted out.

There's no point in trying to spend money that you are going to have to give back!

  • Similar thing happened to a young girl of around 19-20 in my town, think it was about £40K. She had a young child and not much cash, so she went and spent the lot on Disneyland etc. with the help of her brother. She was of course found out in the end, has had to pay it back and I can't remember but she might have got a suspended prison sentence as well. I'm sure in the same circumstance I'd be tempted too, but it's not worth a criminal record!

The bank made an error and they should pay for this. I think in this case they should forget about the money the guy already spent and get the remaining out quickly.

Nonsense, they don't have to pay a penny. The onus is on the account holder not to spend money that isn't theirs. The morals of people in this country are getting worse every day.
  • i'll repeat myself (with amendments)

Why has this 5 month old, thread been resurrected? It was thought to be trolling at the time.

Can a board guide lock this one up before it goes any further please?

Ok this is indeed my first post, but that is why I have come here :) So this is totally genuine...

A freind of myn had £195,000 paid into his account, this was a bank error obviously... however this friend is a pensioner and not well off, he had a weak moment and went and spent an amount of this money...

The bank have realised their error and are now threatening him with the police.

Now I understand he shouldnt of spent the money, but hey if it had been my account I would of been on my way to Vegas with £195k ! I bet there are a lot of people who would give in to temptation, no ?

I am sure I read of incidents like this happening before... anyone know any links to stories like this, and more so the out come of them ?

Anyone know what he should do ? Would be nice if people could be helpful here, and not just say how wrong he was :)

I think you have lost count. This is your 12th post.

Stranger and stranger the plot thickens. Exactly the same post was posted on the 24.6.07.

Bring on Miss Marple to fish out this troll.
