Diet & exercise buddy needed for 2014 :)

In need of a buddy. I used to go to the gym 3/4 times a week and am still a member. My intentions are to go back in January twice a week minimum. The diet part, I tend to do WW from home. I'm good Mon-Thu, then fall apart Fri-Sun . I was thinking of trying SW but can't get my head around it. Plus, I think I'd eat just because I can, lol. Any buddies out there are very welcome to join me on my journey of ups & downs

I really miss having a gym partner - I am very competitive and used to work so much harder with someone else pushing me. Not sure how well an online partner will work though - it would be too easy to ignore you if I had been bad :-)0

Happy to join you. I keep meaning to get the diet started and increase exercise but can't get motivated as I have no one to talk to about it to motivate me!
I fancy doing the 5:2 diet.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Dovah_diva - I find a gym partner distracting. Spend more time talking than exercising, lol.
tibawo - I've heard of the 5:2 diet but not sure what it is. Will have to have a look.

ME !!!
ps. I tried 5:2 and found it really hard, google 16:8 instead its much easier and still gets results0 -
I've been doing SW for 7 weeks but need to get my lazy sofa-moulded !!! into gear and do something - I just keep finding excuses not to and could do with 'joining in'. Although I think a drill Sargent might be required if this doesn't work. I intend to go back to a weekly dance class, take up Yoga again and also get back to aqua aerobics
SW - I've always thought it sounded a bit ridiculous and couldn't get my head round it either but I joined because my sister decided she was going and I recognized the fact that I needed to do something and I'd do better doing it with my sis. Yes I did find it difficult to get to grips with at first but am really liking it. The down points for me are that I'm spending more money - because I'm eating a lot of fresh fruit and salad - and eating out in some places and eating meals other people are cooking is virtually impossible if you're being strict. But left to my own devices I feel that it allows me eat really tasty meals (what diet allows you Lasagne!) and if I'm genuinely hungry I can have something without thinking that I've used my allowance for the day. Apart from fruit I'm not eating more. They'd other thing is that I think the plan encourages you to eat eggs and red meat which I've always tried to limit/avoid as I have high cholesterol. Oh and I find I have to cook from scratch a lot more whereas sometimes if working late I'd prefer an easy/quick option......but I'm into the flow of it now and made up some batches of meals for the freezer.0 -
I started going back to the gym a few weeks ago as I've decided to do the C25K running plan. I'm hoping this will help shift the pounds (and stones...lots of them!) once I am able to comfortably run 5k/30 mins.
I have A LOT of weight to lose...like 6ish stone - not sure exactly as too terrified to weigh myself :-(.
I'd love a gym buddy but would just make myself feel really demotivated when I can barely run for 60 seconds and everyone else is running at like 10km/h for 30 mins+.0 -

When are you starting it?
I can't run for 30 secs but fancy giving it a go0 -
fizzypotter - I've still not had chance to google the 5:2 diet yet, lol. I've been sorting out my budget for the new year as I'm back in work tomorrow
. That's another story, lol
curlygirl1971 - that's another thing that puts me off SW. You & the kitchen need to be best friends & that we aren't, lol
lvm - I'll have to google the C25K running plan. The treadmill is my favourite piece of equipment at the gym. Would love to run outside but not brave enough on my own

Hiya
I would love to join
I have spent most of my adult life on one diet or another which however I look at it costs me money classes, magazines, etc
So from tomorrow I am going to eat healthy which I know I can do I am not silly I know I can't eat a family size bar of chocolate and not expect to put on weight (which I have and do do by the way ):(
It's exercise I need so I am going to do the 30 day challenges 2 of them which I have bookmarked on my phone (free) I am going to do short bursts of running 3 days a week (free) and walk instead of bus if I can (free)
So I say good luck to us all and let's try to keep each other motivated
Although I am new so not sure how we keep in contact that's if you want toSPC7>>>221:T:j0 -
couch to 5k is great, starts small and builds up so perfect for any fitness level, honestly.
only thing is you have to keep doing it lol, I've completed it once, went on to do 2 10ks and a half marathon, but not done any running since last summer, so going to try and get back on it. have a treadmill at home so no excuse !!!
its also free to download from NHS website.
love the 30 day challenges as well, did 2 last year, hard going but well worth it, and again...free0
