Congratulations on all the great progress folks! I love the saying 'what gets planned, gets done' so true!
Anyway, here's my end of January update:
Financial- Pay £1500 credit card off by end Feb, and KEEP IT AT ZERO (you'd think I'd learn, but apparently not!) - DONE, all paid, totally cleared, yea baby!
- Finish paying car loan by July, and resist urge to upgrade again - On track, another payment paid
- Continue in earnest with mortgage overpayments, particularly from July once credit card and car loan cleared - Over paid £50 in Jan
- Build small emergency pot - Whoops, still no progress, better luck next month!
Personal- Keep reminding self of difference between planning and worrying, and stick with former (I'm the type that pointlessly runs things through in my mind, over, and over, and over...) - Ongoing
- Continue with running club recently joined and complete x2 10k's - Been to running club every week, plus running with a friend on another night, and entered first 10k *smug*
- Begin learning French - enrolled at college and had first class this week
- Continue with sewing, treat self to x1 workshop - Not done any
- Continue emphasis on work life balance with a break of some sort every 3 months - Got a week booked off in March, just need a plan for it
- Learn to be content, to count my blessings and be thankful for what I've got, rather than focusing on the negatives - Ongoing
Relationship- Get out and make more memories together - Doing well, have been to cinema and out for dinner a couple of times

A month into the new year so I thought I would do a review,
My goals for 2014 are
1. Finish and submit my dissertation
not done anything about that!
2. Finish my Tefl course
Nor that!
3. Pay off the credit cards - 8000?
Paid off 200 in January. Never borrowed the extra for the car, used up my savings instead. So actually cc debt is 4400, although I do have 650 on 0% for my car insurance. so nearer 5150
4. Declutter and reorganise the whole house.
Still a work in progress - but there is progress!
5. Save 5000.
185 pounds so far.
6. Be good at my job - be organised, confident.
hmmm not going so well! doing well in some areas.
7. Get a boyfriend. a nice kind solvent (!) man.
am sure he will show up!
8. Loose two stone.
nopehave been walking/running more
9. Complete a half marathon
not till October
10. Drive on the motorway
ugh not yet.
11. Make and keep male friends
yep, am chatting to a couple of guys. have been friendly at work too.
12. Write. everyday.
I have written here every day
Clearly I have work to do!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
1. Get sugar control (I'm diabetic)
had the fasting bloodtest on Wednesday, results to arrive on tuesday. this will create the benchmark for measurement this year. - fingers crossed
2. Work out what I need in a savings pot and go for it
pot now sitting at £4,100 as credit card bill was a big one and was paid in full.
3. Make mortgage overpayments equivalent to 3x monthly payment
end of month transfers done plus some TT, £1.50 from ebay and £8 towards a current month bill that we scraped together from last month's spends. Total down from 119481.83 at 31 December to 118503.35 today. up to 41.5% of my quarterly target
4. Lose weight. Weighed in at 14.5 stone on 01 jan. Am aiming for 14 stone by 01 march
Having gained 2ibs thru sheer laziness, i now have 4 weeks to lose 8 lbs. while it's doable in theory, not sure it'll happen:(
5. Declutter
Finally, emptied the shredder which meant more stuff got shredded. must do better. Ebayed item dispatched
6. Take garden in hand
Too cold and miserable
7. Start 'flylady' daily routines
One habit adhered to all week - daily bedmaking
8. Get rid of ugly clothes bought because they fit and not cos they were nice.
no progress as yet
9. Appreciate my home and make it nicer
n/a due to laziness
10.be more disciplined in my job
TBC
11. Be more consistent in dealing with others
TBC
12. Be less wasteful
Recycled and used up food we had as opposed to opting for takeaways and having to dump stuff.
13. Donate
needs to happen
14. Volunteer
not yet happening
15. Cook more
today i'm determined. shoot me if I've nothing to report back next week. having an OH who likes to cook just makes me lazy
thanks to all who continue to post. some really good results and the peer pressure stops me falling off every wagon.

Hi guys,
Just seen this thread and would love to join.
This year I would like to:
1. Reduce debt
2. Stop eating in the canteen in work to save money. So far have taken packed lunch every day.
3. Lose weight. So far lost 7lbs in January.
4. Stop biting my nails. Have got a small amount of growth there and not bitten them for a week or two. I will have talons!!!
It doesn't sound like a lot and I'm sure I will add to the list as things crop up.12/04/2019
Savings £134 nothing changed here
Credit Score 134/700 - Jan. 171/700 - Feb. 151/700 - Mar.0 -
Hey Everyone - loving the updates, we are all making great progress! We are now in February, where has January gone???!! :T
So, this is where I get to update on my financial goals as it was payday on Friday!! Whoop whoop! Not much progress on the credit card front I'm afraid as it's a tight month with a big deposit needed on a car. The good thing is that I have paid for it by CASH rather than CREDIT which hasn't been the case over the last 10 years.
The slimming front has not been great either but I've been put on orlistat (fat busting tablets) by the doc to help. I really don't eat that much yet I gain weight (I have an hormonal inbalance)! It's really a pain in the backside and gets me down but what can you do apart from keep trying?
End of Week 3
1. Pay Loans (£10542) - now £9136 -- paid £1406 so far
2.Pay & close 4 CCs (£7515) - now £7391-paid £124 so far and 4 cards to go.
3. Read 6 books - STARTED first book - Philomena - 22 chapters in -
4. Complete photo albums x4 - no further progress
5.Exercise at least twice a week for 45 mins - only 1 class done this week. Total time = 30 mins of Metafit (grrroooaaaan) -- must try harder!
6. Get to my goal weight (10st 3lbs) - gained 2lbs this week, don't understand why at all but total loss 2014= +1lb!!!- have been put on Orlistat by doc so hoping to see this come down next week
7. Redecorate my bedroom - no plans until March
8. Say 'no' when I need to - no further update
9. Pray more - Not been very good at this this week:(
10. stop wasting fruit and veg - Good progress this week
11. Gut out spare room - no further progress as yet
NYD x2019 goal
0/£150000 -
Updating for January then....
1) Pay off all my debt Total down by £500 and all on 0% now
2) Save £8000 towards a house deposit £250 saved
3) Exercise twice a week 4 runs and one zumba class so bit of a fail
4) Tone up my tummy (don't need to lose weight as such but everything's a bit less firm than it used to be and I'd like to change this) Sit ups and abs work out done once, total fail
5) Pass the next module on my course no futher on
6) Make more of an effort to socialise one girly night out and styed til the end
7) Have a holiday Looked at costs online
So some progress but still room for improvement...
