........... Perhaps you should try a different person or a different post office?

    my thoughts exactly...
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....
  • This is absurd....

This year I have taxed 4 ex Fire Service vehicles at the local Post Office. Fire Service Vehicles are classed as Emergency Vehicles, exactly the same as Ambulances.......

I'm seeing my Post Office chap in the morning & will ask him. DVLA have closed their local offices, there is no way that you shouldn't be able to tax a vehicle immediately & be able to drive it via The Post Office..... ....

I was told lots of things changed in August this year. I wanted a couple of ex-army lorries re-classified as agricultural/forestry machines and had to sent everything to Swansea.

My local office was closed earlier in the year and the local Post Office just laughed - they didn't even have the appropriate forms.

Any chance you live in the same general area as Tigerprint, and could go to his local Past Office?
  • I'm in the far South East, I mentioned to my PO chap & he said he thought he'd done an ambulance before, couldn't properly look into it though as hoards people tutting as 'chat' going on.

Try phoning DVLA (hypothetically), see what they say:

    Vehicle Registration and Tax enquiries
    Telephone: 0300 790 6802
    Fax: 0300 123 0798
    Textphone: 18001 0300 123 1279
Lines open: Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm
    Saturday, 8am to 2pm
