Okay so just went to the post office to get this tax and they said they could not do it as we need to get the V5 changed first at our local DVLA office! They said my local Stoke Gifford, Bristol should still be open but the number they gave me is no longer in use??

Bristol is listed as having closed a fortnight ago, I think its a V70 you'll have to fill in and get the V5C changed with Swansea.

    Is that because it's closed?

well thats what I told them but they seem to think its still open. its a long way for me to go if they are closed! phoned 0300 790 6802 but no-ones answering

I asked the same question at my local post office and they said they can do it no problem - just need the logbook.

They said they can't do classation change from ambulance to normal. I have to send off v5 to dvla to get it changed which could take a month!!

There is no such category as 'Normal' - I presume you mean 'Private'.

Lord knows why you have waited this long to change it, unless you originally intended to use it as an ambulance.

Get the correct form and send everything off to DVLA asap for goodness sake.

Yes 'private' that's the word I was looking for!

Because the vehicle was an on-going project and not driven on the road or change not needed until now. Plus I was told changing classation was easy and quick (which I now know is Not)

I can confirm that a vehicle that was taxed under 'Disabled' class was successfully changed to & taxed as a 'Petrol Car' at the post office earlier today. The logbook was a prerequisite though. Not sure why an ambulance would be any different since it is a NIL tax band, same as a disabled car. Perhaps you should try a different person or a different post office?

I did try two post offices and phoned the post office Centre and I was told yes they can change disabled class but not ambulance.

    Thanks anyway everyone
