All the updates where posted to the now dead Hotmail .
Bit of a problem transferring stuff .

I might be a bit thick but I just used the update facility on the handset, have Kies on my laptop but prefer the easy option.

But it was that update that is at fault for the OP it cannot update again as its already got the latest .

Odin is not hard to use and that path gives far more options .
EG just flashed latest 4.3 that is not available OTA or Kies .Prior to flashing and test ing four 4.4 custom roms .

Bought my Wife a new G3 which came with the new software so used the handset update on my three months old G3 to give me the latest software, no problems yet.

Go into apps then settings then about device, the software update is top of the list.

The danger with this update is that you might be affected by the bugs that have hit my S3 and many others. Equally, you might be fine.

Yes and i dont think my question was answered above .
You downloaded the update and installed and now have problems .
As far as i am aware and ref your first post OTA will not download the same update again .

nickcc is failing to understand the problem you have .

Yes, that's the version that caused my S3 to have problems. When I run software update it says I have the latest version. Samsung tell me that one way to fix the phone is to reflash it either with a clean version of I9300XXUGMK6 (which may or may not solve the issue) or with a previous version. Another option is to wait for them to find out what is causing so many S3s to exhibit problems after the I9300XXUGMK6 upgrade and for them to release a fix. As has been pointed out earlier in the topic, the fix may or may not resolve the issues with my phone so I may need to get the phone reflashed anyway.

I had a look at trying to reflash the phone myself but have decided against it for now. I'll wait until after New Year to see what progress Samsung make and meantime try hard to keep my phone in portrait orientation to reduce the frequency of the System UI failures causing the phone to freeze / crash.
