Parking on the pavement - SELFISH motorists!

This makes my blood boil too. It's not so bad for me as I am able bodied so if I have to I can step out into the road or cross with my daughter in her buggy but I always think of the people in wheelchairs who might not be able to. A friend of mine actually leaves her house 30 minutes before her daughter finishes school so that she can get a "decent" parking space, the mad thing is that the school is only 20 minutes or so walk from her house-why not just walk? It's amazing how many people pity me as I don't have use of the car during the week, I live 10 minutes walk from my town centre, why would I need a car?
People are just so lazy nowadays with no regard for others, they park on double yellow lines round here to go into the corner shop to buy their fags & booze rather than walk about 10 yards further, these are probably the same people who take up parent & child or disabled parking spaces.
We have a big problem with wheelie bins where I live too, we actually have 3 per house & some people don't have enough room to keep them all in their gardens so they end up on the pavement.0 -
I get totally hacked off with barstewards who park on the pavement too. Sometimes, there is just enough room to get past but a lot of the time there isn't and you have to risk going onto the road to get past and it's a busy one too. Especially, hacks me off when it's BMWs, space wagon, MPVs etc etc, drive like they own the road, pavement etc etc etc. Even crossing the !!!!!! road when it's at red lights isn't safe. I nearly got mowed down by an absolute F***W*T when the lights were at red and even although there is CCTV right across the street, when I called the Police to report it they said there was no one manning the cameras at the time so they couldn't do anything and with no description of the vehicle or witnesses. The poor guy on the other side of the crossing was as shocked as me and wouldn't have got a description either. I was just concerned for the kids and myself, not the blinkin number plate/description of the vehicle. Oh, and absolute Barstewards who don't stop at zebra crossings but again because there is no CCTV or lack of someone manning it and no description/number etc, nothing can be done. At the end of the day if you think you are going to get mowed down you want to get off the crossing with the kids intact, not stand with a notepad and pen taking down the number. You are usually so fuming that your brain isn't engaged anyway, just boiling mad at the prat who just ignored the crossing. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could always drop a good few 6 inch nails around about the pavement, (along with the milk bottles of course)

I too have exactly the same problem in my village, there is NO reason for people to park right across the pavement, they just don't want their cars damaged by passing cars, HAVE THEY NO INSURANCE????? it makes you wonder why they are so precious about their vehicles.
As I wonder past with my daughter and a toddler in pushchair I often push back their wing mirrors hoping that they realise it is causing people problems to pass but now some drivers park on the pavement then push in their own wingmirrors back !!!!
I think this is a polite way of letting people know they are an obstruction, I usually try and push the passanger side mirror so they HAVE to get out the car everyday and move it.
1 WORD OF WARNING THOUGH, once with this method as i pushed the wing mirror back to my amazement it dropped of crashing onto the floor !!! imagine my gobsmacked face as I ran off as fast as I could lmao
Also i think they must be commiting an offence by mounting the kirb in the first place to actually get onto the pavement, isn't that classed as dangerous driving, or driving without due care and attention?????Running total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan

 Just as annoying as the inconsiderate idiots who don't seem to care that pedestrians can't walk along the pavements are people who prefer to park their cars on the pavement in a road they don't even live in rather than outside their own house. Park in front of soemone elses house in a different road and walk to their own car free house in a neighbouring street :wall:0

Actually I've got a bit of a respite now for a few days - the house just down the road is being renovated and there are some lovely traffic cones all along the pavement....it's fun to see the frustration of the motorists who have now to walk all the way from the car park at the end of the street; wow, wonder if their poor little legs will make it!

:j Good to hear you've got a bit of a rest from the carry on.
Here's a tip I came across on an article on Google. If any offending car blocks your driveway/doorway etc etc. Stock up on cheap lipstick and scrawl across the car in a prominent position, a message to the driver. Like "DON'T PARK ON THE PAVEMENT, JERK!!!!!!!!!!" Worth a go. Same goes for perfectly able bodied people parking in disabled parking spaces, that really gets me. Windscreen best, say low down, that way they you are not obstructing their view really because if on the side windows they can just put the window down. Not so easy with the windscreen.

I was driving along this morning and as I was waiting at some traffic lights I saw a driver in a white van mount the kerb next to the lights. He almost knocked down 3 schoolgirls, they had to jump back out of his way. He glared at them as if they should'nt have been there in the first place even though it was a crossing point and then got out to repair the crash barrier which had been damaged.UNBELIEVABLE.0

These sort of people ARE unbelievable JanCee.......no manners, no respect and no time for anyone else in their harrassed lives! I'm happy to say that I don't drive or own a car through choice and rely on public transport. It's frightening how people seem to see their vehicles as some sort of sealed bubble where the outside world doesn't exist. My camera is at the ready in my porch for the next half-wit who parks over my front step or bangs my wall with their car door.....oh and good tip Dragonfly re wing mirrors! I'm going to do it and TOUGH if one of them should break off!"I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0

I have been tempted to get some leaflets printed that say " Whilst parked on a pedestrian pavement, your vehicle insurance is null and void in the event of damage by other road users or ACCIDENTAL damage by pedestrians with sharp keys, umbrella's, pushchairs or wheelchairs"
but I know i'de be tempted to put them on the windscreen with SUPERGLUE!!!!!!!Running total for swagbucks - £270 since Jan
