These don't look too onerous:Offer Terms and Conditions:
Free Sky Wireless Booster: Available to new and existing Sky Broadband customers subject to availability by claiming online after activation before 30th January 2014. Other providers supply boosters at extra cost. 1 per household.0 -
So, I click through all the screens and tick the appropriate boxes, and the final screen - although it has stated it's free more than once - gives me a monthly cost which I can't relate to what I pay now. Plus it's not clear whether it's a cost for TV, (in which case it's gone up quite a lot), or broadband (ditto), or phone or all the above (in which case it's become a bargain!). Anyone know?
Plus I'm suspicious that this will reset the contract back to another 12 months, despite there being nothing in the Ts and Cs.0 -
I used to be paranoid, but now I know they are out to get me.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I asked on Sky chat about the above and they said no new contract, just a free bit of kit. I saved the chat just in case. They then lied through their teeth about how to increase my bandwith, oh how we laughed.

I agree, being asked to make basic checks on your connection is an infringement of artical 7 of your human rights. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

If you get the new hub it locks you in for a new 12 month contract.
I emailed because I couldn't see how to claim the booster on NYE and didn't want to tackle the call center
Got a reply on 1st Jan saying that they were sending a new hub that auto-signed me into a new 12 month contract(!) without asking me if I wanted to.
They were sending the hub rather than the booster as they thought that would solve it as I had an old router. I would have stayed, I am a heavy user with xbox, netflix, on demand, internet radio, numerous laptops, kindles, phones and other devices etc and I need the unlimited bb so would have but to have it auto-done niggled a bit.Princess Sparklepants0 -
Couldn't you reject the FOC router and remain on your previous contract? (And buy one instead)0

You can only use Sky Routers with Sky broadband, although you can pick them up on Ebay. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Thanks, but I'm happy staying with Sky and having the new router - I use a hell of a lot of bandwith and as I have the tv too I'm good with the discount etc. Anything else even near to what I get would cost a lot more. Was just a minor irritation that they didn't ask if it was okay, nothing really in the scheme of things.
(On a side note, the router arrived this afternoon and is going straight back as it doesn't work(!!))Princess Sparklepants0
