  • I used to live of a fiver a week several times at uni... and still go out and get drunk.... really noyt sure how i did that... and I wish i could do that now... does not happen...

Yeah, I know what you mean! But in my uni we could get drinks for £1 (Or drink before going out), free entry to clubs and would walk to everywhere! Now drinks cost £3, you're lucky to get into a club for a fiver, and I live too far out to walk anywhere! I really just want to know how I ate so well!

Me neither!! I did a part-time degree one day a week and worked full time for the other four (along with evenings and weekends for extra money - totally missed the whole uni experience :p

another £74 off CC2 although had to pay £150 on it the other day for the car, and its now back in the garage again and looking to be another £300 at least it never rains but pours.... Changed my cc to a nationwide one as both cc1 and 2 had begun with interest so now both together on the nationwide and new rough total is £2900 ..... best get saving and hopefully get rid of this car when I am back on my feet but still £750 to pay off the car. Its crazy I am now on long term sick and will be going down to basic wage in march as had surgery on my feet, so money going to be tight anyway....sorry i am waffling now. My new total is £2900 plus car loan of £750

  • bluebella - it's up to you if you want to increase, but there's no pressure to increast it now. You could always see how you're doing when you reach £2000 and have another think?

Hi trueblue - I just focus on total debt, so hope I'm getting this right. Do you want to have a total debt target of £3650, or do you want your target to be £2900 and the car loan not included?

As much as you might think you missed out on the student experience, there were aspects of it that weren't all that great -I was at uni for 5 years, gathered £7k of debt (not including student loans), lived in some awful flats, stressed out a fair bit about where rent money would come from, spent 2 years stupidly worried about heating bills, and missed about 5 family funerals because they coincided with exams. Student discount was great though (not that I ever had the money to buy the discounted items!) And I do miss the holidays :rotfl:
  • Ok so I haven't been on this thread - not sure if I ever asked for a number? BUT this felt like this best place to share...with over £40k of debt, have managed to pay off £4137 and clear the balance of 2 barclaycards today! WOOOO HOOOOOO!!

This includes money from virtual sealed pots, extra jobs, collecting money from people who have borrowed it over the years and cutting back!

Next big goal to clear is the £6500 on DH's CC - will focus on that one for next few months with every spare penny going to it.

Hands were shaking as I as paying it off and have updated spreadsheet showing 0 Balances :-) nice feeling - although bank account looks a bit naked :-(

Great idea...I will see where I am a bit further along the line and review my finances if I get near to my goal :)
