Forgot about the car tax this month. £139 down the potholes.

Ah well, you can forget about it for another year now ;)
  • I tried to post yesterday, but think the forum was broken... I can't even remember what I was saying!

Got paid yesterday, and enjoyed feeling rich for all of 5 minutes. I'm going to do my best to deal with cash only this month.

My OH and I also discussed yesterday - we really like the flat we're in at the moment, and have decided that if one of the flats in our block comes up for sale, we'd like to be in a position to put in an offer for it. We're going to go on project 'savings blitz' when we return from holiday, and hopefully can have enough for a deposit and furniture by next year.

Me and OH are thinking about moving out of the greater london area as the rent prices are crazy. We could get a 3 bed house down near my parents in Sussex for the same price we're paying for the skanky 2 bed flat we have at moment. £1100 + bills doesn't help us clearing debts or saving either.

Just paid another £20 off the debt. Was hoping to pay £50 off it today, but I've just had to make an appointment for the dentist - which TBH I just can't afford at all at this precise moment - but I chipped a tooth and it needs to be done. Plus I was able to get an appointment for tomorrow and I'm off work so couldn't turn it down. I just need to find the money now.

Payday on Friday though, so Hopefully I'll be able to pay some more off and put myself on a strict budget for the rest of the month. It's going to be a tough month.

    So currently I'm standing at:

    #148 £1270/£3000
But I'm afraid my debt may go up tomorrow. Fingers crossed it won't.

We were helping a colleague look for a new house just outside Glasgow yesterday - 4 bedroom detached house = £900 (unfurnished)

Irishrose - hoping the dentist isn't too expensive!

amr - I think we'll have a housing crash fairly soon, I worry it'll crash just after I buy somehwere! I'm thinking we would just rent the flat out if it came to that, but would need to save for a second deposit

We have a three bed terrace with parking at the back for 460 PCM which isn't bad, but wages are quite low!

A housing crash would be good for us but not for others lol. We don't want to pay more than about 120k for our first home....

No, me neither - £120k is about my comfort zone for a first place!

Our area is funny. You can drive down a road, and on the left, houses are worth £50k less because that side of the road belongs to a different township - it doesn't even have anything to do with the school catchments, it's the reputation of the township itself.
