Evening all, another £1500 payment made off the mortgage.

Finding it hard going at the moment to keep this up but keep looking at mortgage calculator to see how much money saving by overpaying and how much earlier going to be mortgage free.

You're so close to the target you've set on here - it won't be long before that lots cleared and you'll have extra cash fro not having to pay that off anymore!
  • Well I've been paid from most of my ebay sales (why are there always one or two who don't pay up?!) so I've withdrawn £90 after ebay fees and postage which should cover my spends this week (fingers crossed the dentist thinks my teeth are still OK!). I've got a massive heap of stuff in our bedroom that still needs listing now though - I've avoided ebay for the last couple of years as it takes up so much time but for £100 in a week I can do another big batch and then go back to avoiding it I suppose! I need to check their new listing fees and things though - not sure if I'm better off waiting for my next 20 free listings but having to hang onto this clutter for another month...
  • 35p a listing on ebay now once you're out of free ones  Need to have a good think about how much stuff I've got to get rid of - if it sits around the house for too long it'll all end up in the bin/charity shop anyway cos I can't do with the mess but at 20 listings a month it could take me until xmas to get everything on! :rotfl:

I hate movingand although you can buy a house on this street for under 80k I wouldn't want to buy here. Renting is ok but yeah terraces aren't my cup of tea. I want to move up near mum so looking at 120k ish for a 3 bed!

I like the old terraces around here :o I hate gardening so as long as there is somewhere small outside we can sit in the sun/let kids potter around outside I'm happy - there's tons of parks and things nearby and I'm not responsible for mowing the lawns there :D At the minute we've got a little garden - big enough for washing line and a little shed thing with a raised flower bed bit at the back - just about able to keep that under control (with help from my mum hahaha :rotfl:)

What kind of house is your dream amr?

I love the old terrace houses too. So many people have been into mine have been surprised by the amount of space. They are so used to one sitting room in the more modern houses and are surprised to find two reception rooms. The only drawback is no drive. Mine has got a huge garden which is good for growing veggies but a nightmare to keep on top of the weeds. Plus I only paid £44000 in 2002 so the mortgage is reasonable. I feel so sorry for people trying to buy houses these days with the ridiculous house prices.

I have had a bit of money in today so I'm going to look at the finances and see if I can pay off a bit more. Fingers crossed.

I have broken through the 20k mark, I now owe less than £20,000 for the first time in 10 years.

Invoice pay day next week for me so will update again.

    Cheers! :T

Well done. Another milestone gone. :T

Regarding house ownership - Deffo think it is better than renting except if your neighbours are unpleasant. Unfortunately you can't tell what you are going to get until you move in then you can get stuck. I always try to buy something that gives privacy and thick walls so if the neighbours are not great you don't get badly affected. ;)

This is exactly why I don't like living in terrace houses... I'm in an end terrace at the moment, and the walls to next door are like paper. I can handle it from one side, but don't think I could cope with both! Unless I can find a good sound proofer...
  • I know I am very, very late but is there any chance I can join please. I am not going to be able to read the 133 pages all at once but I will slowly work my way though them if I can join.

I have approx 13k of debt. Will work out the exact amount this week.
