I'm still here. Just! Things aren't going too great right now as we've had loads of added expenditure with the kids, but also we've made a decision to take a BIG trip next summer -my elderly rellies in Oz are getting on now and next Summer is the last time we won't have public exams with the kids for the next 10 years  so we've decided to suck it up and go and visit them. It's gonna knock our DFD back by a year, but actually, I think family is more important, so we're going. Loan payments and minimum payments only until then for us, then we'll hammer it from Sept '15 onwards!Long haul supporter #290POAYDBX2014 #043LBM Dec 2011 Debt £51K Debt Nov 2014 £42K0

Congrats on the mortgage! Hope you took some time to celebrate that milestone! :T
Had quite an expensive weekend this weekend as it was our wedding anniversary on saturday night - had a lovely meal and a bottle of Martini Asti (Missed out on a deal :evil) and a few drinks after that, it wasnt cheap but we had Asti at our wedding and so insist on doing it once a year with a steak dinner;)
we then went onto have a BBQ yesterday with my parents and our son, only cost us £5 for the burgers and onions.. it didnt helThat's quite brave, having a mortgage whilst being self employed.
I know the feeling, waiting each month for that magic day when all the overheads and the rent are paid, when we can start paying ourselves. But I wouldn't like the pressure of it being a mortgage that was waiting to be fed.
Luckily were based from home, unluckily I was made redundant by a coke head boss snorting the company profits 18 months after buying a house with a 100% mortgage and the housing markets collapsing within weeks.. I then decided to make a living myself as ive been screwed overa few times and got locked in negatie equity upto £35,000..
Im pleased to say as of May 2014 - theres is around £500 equity in the property :rotfl:£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

nolongerindenial Well done on making another payment. One time I had to contact a regular client to chase an invoice which was overdue. Fortunately payment arrived the day before the mortgage payment went out! Our mortgage is the last bill of the month as it were, so it's normally fine....don't like it when it gets that close though!
This month was the first month this year that when the mortgage has gone out I have had a positive balance over £1 in the bank
I am putting myself under a huge amount of stress to get these debts paid off, I dont know if 22k is possible this year, im not going to change my target as that includes a substantial settlement payment i believe I may be able to get.. Once I have paid the poison debts of over7K (down to £5258.51 as I type this and we are targeting sub 4k this month), these cause numerous ups and downs - I will win and I will celebrate with another couple bottles of Asti.£4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!

Well done on all the updates.
I have to wait another month now before anything else can be paid off.
Wish I had a monthly wage every week how good would that be LOL

Evening all,
Another few payments have gone out yesterday to the tune of £300, so the new total is:
#163 £3132/9141 (34%)
Unfortunately I'm expecting to have a tax credits overpayment to pay back soon which could undo all the hard work this year, but as I've almost cleared a few of the smaller debts this should free up some money to pay it back gradually. Not looking forward to seeing the debt total increasing though!
Well done everyone else, keep it up!Starting 2016 debt-free

Gonna change my target amount to something more achievable I think, £10,000 seems to be a bit beyond my reach this year unfortunately. Seeing as we are half way through the year and I've paid off c.£2,500 I'll change my target to £5,000 and see how I get on. Hopefully, I'll pay off more but, as a minimum, if I reach that amount by xmas I'll end the year happy. So please update the following...
#187 - £2,672/£5,000 (53.44%)
Cheers!0 -
